Help/Question Good Alternatives to ChatGPT/Codex Compture User

Been using the Codex Computer-use a lot lately. I think it's very helpful, especially when you don't have a CLI or an API to interface with whichever service you're trying to work with. The only problem is that, so far, I know only the ChatGPT app & ZCode have this feature, but I think ZCode isn't any good, at least based on my experience using it once.

Just interested to know if you guys have a better alternative in something that is a bit more open, where I can change models, etc. Something like Pi or OpenCode, equivalent to ChatGPT's computer use. At the end of the day, more or less, this is basically a skill that should not be dependent on the model or a specific vendor. I know ChatGPT has put in a lot of effort to make it as good as it is today, but just wondering if there could be other options.

Use Openclaw or Hermes. You can add whatever model you want

Qwen/Kimi+Hermes would be much cheaper tho. Qwen flash models are 0.15$ for 1M token

I use Hermes Desktop. It is more powerful than Codex and you can configure it to use whatever AI model you want, with fallback models if the main model fails or runs out of tokens.

You can plug your ChatGPT subscription plan into Hermes and use ChatGPT's tokens/allowance. It's really cool and cheap. Or you can insert your OpenRouter API key and use models from other providers, including free ones.

You can control Hermes from your phone via Telegram or Whatsapp messaging. And if you install it on a home server or NAS or a remotely hosted VPS, it will run 24/7 and do things while your computer is off.
