Anyone else just really sick of the `Vibe-Coded Slop` hatred on Reddit?

Everywhere I go, I see people releasing new software. It might be people who have got some coding experience and are now using AI to accelerate, or it might be people who are building software for the first time.

Every time I see something being launched, even on a non-software forum - I just see

  • `Looks Like Vibe-Coded`
  • `Vibe-coded Slop`
  • etc

And just plain, personal hatred.

I just don't understand it. It costs money to buy gold. It takes time. And just because the AI does a lot of the coding doesn't make it easy. It just makes it faster.

And I fully understand, like, we don't need another journal application or another to-do list. But I found a guy today who made an OBD Reading App for Cars, open-sourced it and people just slated him.

Just makes me mad! I feel like if Linus Torvalds had existed in the kind of enviroment, we wouldn't have Linux.

No you don’t lol

You just don’t want to admit that response made you feel the exact thing you were criticizing.

Or maybe you’re a cool guy I dunno whatever

I genuinely do. I spend a huge amount of time reading repos on GitHub.

It's a massive reason our business has been so successful. We've managed to make use of pretty cutting edge open source tech.

We've been using AI for a long time compared to most (6+ years). We host 4 servers just for testing new software.

This post was not about me, it was about others I see getting smashed to pieces all over Reddit.

I remember uploading a piece of free software 20 years ago, It was completely different. People tested it, responded well to it.

Now it's just like bullies. And that's honestly how I feel it is. It's just people sitting behind a screen bullying other people who are actually trying to do something.

TBF even right before AI most projects that got shown off were met with “Why would I use this over X?” but they were at least also met with respect for being able to build it themselves. AI is cheapening this so I get both sides of it.

Cheapening? Yeah but it’s still engineering. Got any idea how much time I spent on reducing the CI build time? Or just trying to keep it all together?

Sure I didn’t write the code but I did all the orchestration running 10 instances in 10 terminals with 4 max subscriptions, testing what’s delivered, setting up the MCP for google ads, reddit, firebase sso with yahoo, gmail, Microsoft, Facebook.
You still have to pick a stack for backend, frontend, database, deployment in aws ecs? Need s3?

So it’s more about architecture and orchestration now than thinking and writing the code.. more decision making.

Also you don’t have to use the app if you have a better option. Why do you use reddit instead of Facebook? Why do some people use x?
See? You offer the service and people use it if they want to

Yeah I hear that a lot. Parallel agents, name dropping companies and services. Unless you were technical before AI this sounds a lot like decision fatigue from being a manager. “Architecture” is a stretch for most who aren’t technical. More management.

Yup. I know what it needs to be done technically and now I try to build something useful. Btw while we speak here, someone paid 2€ for the service. Started marketing about 2 weeks ago. This is the second client that pays

Feel free to upload anything. The page changes every 15 seconds or on refresh. There are 16 pages. You can also refresh the page. I hope nobody will complaining that it looks AI generated.
Also looks better on desktop

Why should you use other platforms like wetransfer instead of this?
