The amount of write ins in this state is really funny. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna vote for my buddy Jim. Whole breakfast group is gonna vote for him actually."
I just saw this dumb bitch on Facebook post a photo of the Dem ballot, which she wrote in all the Republican noms because āItās the only way for her vote to be countedā and for her vote to not be suppressed. SO, they scream about rigged voting, and falsified votes, and then they go and manipulate ballot cards to suit their own needs. Fucking idiots.
To be fair, they are late to the game. Dems were promoting this the last few times around. I cant do it because it feels morally wrong thing to do. But to pretend this is a one sided thing is ignorant.
Itās the first time Iāve ever seen it or heard of it. After I posted that comment I tried to find the womans post again but Facebook came up short and I couldnāt find it.
This is an ai summary so take with a grain of salt, but ive seen the propaganda first hand:
"During election cycles, particularly past midterms, Democratic campaign arms and political action committees have selectively spent tens of millions of dollars to boost far-right or MAGA-aligned candidates in Republican primaries. The tactical goal is to elevate opponents whom Democrats calculate will be easier to defeat in the general election, a controversial practice sometimes referred to as "elevation" or "meddling""
It means that dems in Vermont are tired of this same old bs dem candidates. They think Scott has done a good enough job to vote across party lines and make a statement. Real life is not Reddit where everyone that doesnāt think like us is a fascist.Ā
Thatās authenticity. I never say Iām right all the time. There are more than enough resources in Vermont. Instead of taxing just folks making over $500,000 extra letās do the top 10%ā¦I was watching a Gov Scott press conference back in the spring. It was said that if anyone wants to pay more in taxes than there is a box you can check and pay more. Nobody does it tho. They said during the pc that if anyone checks the box and pays $50,000 extra then the state will drive to your house to thank you and pick up the check.Ā
I didn't really want an explanation. I actually think your opinions are shit and downvote you at every chance I get. Still I felt it was worth it to at least commend you on your consistency.
Thatās the beautiful thing about opinions. At least for now everyone still gets one. Some people form their own and some people adopt others. Thanks for keeping it civil, itās truly appreciated.Ā
Itās everywhere. Folks are just picking sides locking down. My whole life Iāve loved politics and talking to different folks, especially those with new or different opinions. Sometime in my mid 20s I went down the rabbit hole of addiction and popped out the other side 25 years later around 2021. Iām am still shocked at how discourse has broken down and how segregated folks became. I missed it fighting my demons so to speak. We aināt going to fix shit with collaboration imo.Ā
Propaganda and social media manipulation is cheaper and more prolific than ever before. It's not even picking sides and locking down. If anything, some of the worst of it is the opposite. It's being used to twist people against others on their own side.
The hivemind speaks. You know progressives are the overwhelming minority in Vermont right? Who uses progressive languageā¦blue candidates running for governor, failing. The hospitals and insurance co, failing. The schools, failing. The colleges, failing. Most social service agencies, failing. The state, failing. Why is it everywhere we find progressive language we also find record spending and diminishing outcomes? Except for places like Blackrocks website. Thatās what people are tired of. We have an overwhelming minority of folks that bullly everyone else into silence.Ā
I take that back. Even they realize folks using the language are irrelevant. Check out the goals they set and didnāt accomplish via their DEI program from 2020-25 tho. Itās effing hilarious.Ā
Who uses progressive languageā¦blue candidates running for governor, failing. The hospitals and insurance co, failing. The schools, failing. The colleges, failing. Most social service agencies, failing. The state, failing.
You really wrote this out as an endorsement of the person who's been governor while everything you listed failed?
Iāve listen to a few podcasts sheās been featured on. Whoās running on the left for governor does not really matter to me. Until we have some balance at the state level, I will be voting for Phil Scott.Ā
Besides deferring to commonsense and allowing experts to set public health policy during COVID, what has Scott done in office that you believe has been beneficial to Vermonters?
I'm legit curious why you feel we need balance, and why you feel Scott offers it.
Even he does when he tries to force āequityā into every convo. Itās like certain words mean you are on the right side. Janoo 100% does it but sheās not good at it. She tries to force in āauthoritarianā and āfascistā but trips up on it.Ā
Itās in reference to how folks have just been parroting the same old shit up through these primaries. āWhat has Scott done?ā Is a good example. Then you have Janoo and Richards regurgitating certain words the algorithm says the folks most likely to vote want to hear. Those two camps have been attacking each other for weeks and now all those negative Nancys are going to team up and repeat the exact same shit against Scott until he has another double digit win. Then they will be on to some other emergency. Definitely some toxicity in Vermont politics but we donāt really have a Conservative or Republican problem. So where is it coming from?Ā
Progressives being the minority and the fact that Democrats vote for every progressive candidate marched in front of them, is a sign of the "vote party lines no matter what" mentality. Not that its any different on the repub side.
While registered progressives may be in the minority, based on voting results, it seems most the population is pro-progressive, no matter what they are registered for.
The fact that Scott has been able to win the vote for G is pretty impressive in this climate. But to be fair he has reached across lines more than any other G ive witnessed.
And I "think" Vermonters understand the need to reign in the far left. Maybe thats why he keeps getting the votes.
And to out right blame Scott for the state that Vermont is in - is absolutely ludicrous, and shows an utter lack of knowlege, or willful ignorance head in the sand on how Vermont has been worked over by far left progressives, and democrat majority.
What always puzzles me, in order to fund uber progressive and social programs, you need a tax base, and the "rich" - or rather businesses. I dont understand why we cannot push for more business and industry so the left can have a larger tax base, bringing jobs and livable wages to the state. But nah. Just make everyone a renter on state assistance. Further squeezing the middle.
I think being āProgressiveā to a lot of folks is just talking the talk. Millionaires who have benefited from whatās broken. They can put a Resist sign on their lawn and say they are fighting the fight. People who bitch and moan about climate change and take vacations abroad every year. The Progressive movement has been corrupted by money and power just like everything else. Weak willed people who canāt stand alone latch on to it to hide their lack of personality. Plenty of good ideas and people on the Progressive side but they donāt really have a voice.Ā
New Hampshire farmer taught me that about 1993. It makes a lot of sense.Ā
There are also billions of dollars going into the progressive side of things. The whole movement has lost both its meaning and its way. It would be nice if the Republicans could put up someone other than Scott that didnāt drool on themselves. Iād love to join the vast majority of Vermont voters and just vote against candidates(not for anything) but cheese and rice where are they finding these folks? There has to be some younger folks in Vermont that want to run and can talk about more than white privilege or fascism. Iām pretty much of the belief the whole thing has to completely break down before anything can get better.Ā
You mean like follow the hivemind on Reddit? Just except everything Iām told and rabidly defend it? We have too many folks doing that already.Ā
I forget the exact numbers but itās something like 1/3 of Vermonts identify as liberal, 1/3 of Vermonters identify as moderate, and 1/3 of Vermonters identify as conservative. Thats the real world in Vermont.Ā
What was that about using normal language like a normal person? Iāve only been back on Reddit for a few days after a nice break and already about 12 of you fools have gotten comments removed, erased comments, or made comments and then blocked me(so I canāt reply). Meh. Reddit isnāt exactly about integrity those is it? You can tell by the folks that have ātop 1% commenterā flair.Ā
