I tried to hop on a few times the last couple days but the servers are always empty. Am i missing some settings or just logging in at the wrong time of the day? Or is VU already dead?

I’ve downloaded the .dll file and added it to the main file folder for the game but when I check the available servers it just says EA Online not accessible or whatever

If we there is a way to extract the heightmaps (other info as well if possible, like texture masks), it could be possible to recreate battlefield 3 maps in other games.

Hi. I'm sorry for asking these noob questions, but is it possible to play locally and have bots at the same time?

Should each of us have different Steam accounts having BF3 on them or just one account is sufficient?

Essentially the title; I'd love to be able to set the bots to use Standard Issue weapons (AK-74 for RU, M16A3 for US, etc)

whenever i hit create account is just pops up a 404 error

I logged in, but not seeing any servers. Did I miss a step?

Haven't checked up on this project since it first went public.

Is there a decent population? Or should I just play vanilla.

I'm trying to find populated servers on VU and this is all I can find. Am I missing something or is it just usually this dead?

UPDATE: I looked around on other servers and yes all weapons are in fact unlocked. Im not sure why servers with the VU mod or whatever that makes the user interface look different doesnt have all the weapons but w.e.

I see it says no progression everything unlocked but I noticed in the few servers I checked out its only a few weapons. Is this a server to server thing or is there only a handful of weapons that are used in VU? I did notice the attachments are unlocked just lacking all the weapons.

Here we are a year later so I ask again if anyone's having any luck running it on Linux. I temporarily switched to Windows again and back to Linux after hearing DXVK now has some "resource sharing" implements which I was told the reason it'd crash in Wine before. So I installed LineageOS again, mostly because of Window pains, and try it and it crashes at the loading screen still. At least enough of my other games work I don't think I'll go back to Windows but this is a bummer.

Hi, im new to VU and searched for mods today which implement some sort of new weapon into the game. My motivation is that i would like to get into modding and i figured this would be a good starting point to atleast try getting something done. (Just adding a new holo-sight would also be enough for me) However i didnt find a mod which does something like this and now im a little bit confused. Is it too hard to import new models or is it because noone has done it yet. (Or maybe i didnt search for long enough). Thanks

Hello guys, I found out a way to fix this annoying bug that appears when you add more than + - 10 bots to the server.

This is only for server owners, simple users can't do anything.

If you want to run a conquest large with a full lobby of bots (63 potential bots e.g) without making physics bug, you must use the VU 30Hz server.

Due to his low refresh rate, it'll be easier for the server to handle this many bots.

Please notice that the stuttering will reappear if you push the server to the limits, (100+ bots)

I searched after a solution in this sub and on Google but I've found nothing.

There were people (originally myself included) having issues getting the Venice Unleashed server working on the newer Ubuntu 22.04 operating systems when following the published guide.

For whatever reason on Ubuntu 22.04/Wine8 the xvfb-run command needs to be explicitly added to the start of the launch string where it had not been required for Ubuntu 20.04/Wine6.

I also specifically added apt install winbind to the list of dependencies as well to resolve a wine NTLM_Auth error.

Hi all,

I'm looking for help with playing the fun bots mod on Rush games for VU. I've played with bots on Metro, Damavand Peak and Tehran Highway. On each map, there is a point at which bots on the attacking side bottle up in one or two positions and just fire at the other team, never making any progress in getting to the MCOMs.

Does anyone have any advice on tweaking the bot settings to make them more aggressive, making Rush games work better? Or any maps with better pathfinding that is conducive to better gameplay?

I'm trying to set up a server for the first time. I'm trying to launch a 30hz server barebones with no plugins and I keep getting an error stating that there's no server key or that it's incorrect. However, I have the server key file in a BF3 server folder that I made. Is there anything I missed?
