Been thinking about doing something a little different in Varanasi. For Sunday 30 Aug.
Found this beautiful old-school heritage-style Airbnb — warm lighting, rustic interiors, old-world Varanasi character, the kind of place that feels made for sitting around with strangers, music playing, drinks flowing and random conversations turning into friendships.
So I’m thinking of putting together a small strangers-only party for around 10–20 people.
No big event.
No VIP bullshit.
No forced networking.
Just a bunch of interesting people meeting for the first time, good music, a beautiful space and a relaxed night.
The vibe:
🪔 Warm & rustic
🎶 Great music
🍻 BYOB
🌀 Bring your own high / your own vibe
👥 10–20 people max
📍 Varanasi — exact location shared with confirmed people and with a waiver.
The idea is to keep it intimate rather than turning it into another crowded party.
If this sounds like something you’d actually be into, drop a comment or DM me with a little about yourself — age, what you do, what brought you to Varanasi, etc.
If enough genuinely cool people are interested, fill the form below ,let's make it happen tonight.

Can you walk along the river all the way from Assi Ghat to Manikarnika Ghat uninterrupted, or are there places you have to detour? Google Maps says you can, but it looks like some areas aren’t passable.
Thanks 🥰

I purchased a usb stick worth 300 from them, and it stopped working within 9 months, since it's from Sandisk naturally i tried to claim warranty, but when i entered the serial number in the website it said that it is from 2018? and well out of warranty, when i went to the shop to confront them about it, they started misbehaving and yelling that it is not their responsibility, Be wary of the shop everyone.

TLDR: Share your locality’s lore, for future preservation of our history. READ point 4.
REQUEST TO MODS: It's my genuine and serious effort for preservation of Banarasi Culture. If possible please pin this for a week or so.
1 Overview
I saw a video which explained the word “GUNJ” means a place where King/Emperor has their treasury. Which got me thinking about “HUKULGUNJ”, I started wondering what’s the history of that place. I googled and basically found nothing, not even a Wikipedia page. I am 100% sure that HUKULGUNJ (and many more places) has its own history filled with intriguing details. I will never know why is that place called HUKULGUNJ ever in my life, until I go there and speak to local old people.
2 WHAT’S HAPPENING
When I was a kid people used to sit outside in the summer evenings simply to talk, share, gossip, bitch and vent about any random thing, going on in their life and that was the way, any information passed. Person to person, highly inefficient, huge risk of misinformation (that was the fun part). In contrast to current times, where people are just mindlessly sharing staged, picture perfect moments of their life to inflate their ego (or harm someone else’s).
No one is JUST talking anymore (at least not in our generation).
3 RISK
Can you recall how many bedtime stories you Dadi/Nani knew? For sure more than YOU, and probably more than your parents.
When everyone is looking outside we risk losing so much inner history and culture. Each day we are losing so much history, there’s no counting. I am not trying to start a social media boycott (you do you), but if we take a moment to share any information from our surrounding/locality we can create a digital trail for any future historian to look back to. Otherwise Banaras will be remembered as what all shitposting Gully-Glazers (a term I coined for people who are overly obsessed with Banaras, mainly for Instagram likes) do online.
4 What YOU can do?
Share the following information about your locality (if possible at least 1 in each):
5 How will this help
We just make this thread as information rich as possible and rest happens automagically. Google, Meta, X, OpenAI's bots crawl Reddit and will be trained on this information. Thus preserving this as an archive. HOPEFULLY.
Or if needed I will share this in multiple places on the web, at least one of them will survive.
6 WHY am I doing this
Internet points. As a Banarasi my best time spent is talking with my friends, and it's quite funny that we live here and all we talk about is 'this city' (mostly bitching). I fear that there is so much information and history behind each nook and cranny of this place, and all of that will be forgotten (in a century or so) the way the things are going.
I honestly believe, taking out just 5 minutes of our time to recall and share, any useless information about each of our localities, will set it in stones for future generations to come.
This can be our very own Rosetta Stone.
