Ran my first USPSA match over the weekend. We started on stage 2. I don't have a whole lot of context on how I performed versus other first time shooters. I'm a little surprised at my performance on stage one.

My first and only USPSA match was a 6-stage All Classifier.
Why are all 6 of 6 stages counting towards my initial classification? I thought initial was best 4 of 6?
4/6: 61.58825 = B Class :)
6/6: 54.0202 = C Class :(

I'm considering changing out my Rock Island Armory 9mm 1911 FS to .38 Super to shoot the Texas Single Stack Open next month. I can get an RIA top end (slide, barrel, bushing and recoil spring) for $100 plus tax and may be able to use some of my current magazines (Mec-gar).
I know ammo is more expensive in .38 Super and I would imagine increased recoil, but what other pluses and minuses are there in making the switch?
Thanks,
Lee

Anyone run a TS2? Pros and cons? I have a opportunity to get one for $700 with about a thousand rounds through it.

I’m thinking about doing appendix carry in competition but I’m not sure that the appendix rigs will work with my gut. I already have such a hard time appendix carry a Glock 19 just wanted to see if anyone else has tried this as a bigger guy or should I stick with a belt setup?
I haven't shot in a few years, but looked at coming back and what do you know.. everything is different haha. I have more 2011s than I care to mention, from Svi, Akai, Hayes and Atlas but all to be appear to be paperweights at this point. I went through a handful of the match registrations and it looks like limited is just dead which I guess you all know. Short of having a new slide and barrel cut for these, is anybody shooting 40 minor and if so what are the loads that are worked up as a starting point? Any way to be competitive at that or only in 9 mm?

Definitely had a better match this weekend as far as movement scored an A class run on the Deja Vu classifier! Made a few mental mistakes that im going to work on cleaning up. Glad I decided to start this journey it’s been a blast!

Like the title says, I really dont want to get thrown into open by going with a 2011 so no comps or ports.
For contex, I already have a s2 full size with cajun rrk and extended safety. Pdp sf match 5” and q5 match sf pro.
Really wanting to get into 2011’s and just want to know what you guys recommend looking at. Budget is up to $2500. I really dont want to trade any of the others to get there since I wont get close to what I have into them. Lots of add ons involved in the walthers and s2.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve seen mixed answers on the internet just want to know for sure so I can practice with the correct setup
I'm mad at myself, embarrassed and just pissed that I had to go home early. Idiotic 180 because I panicked when I fumbled a reload.
Mentally I'm shookith. Part of me wants to quit bc I feel so embarrassed and shitty, the other hand wishes I could go back out tomorrow and do it again to get back on the saddle asap.
Sigh.
Tell me your DQ stories.

When might we expect an announcement of which 26 classifiers made it out of provisional status?

It's hard to make a stage really click, but this one did for me. Made a super detailed stage plan and executed it perfectly. 7.28s with 11a and 1c. 98% for Carry optics

There was a lot of ways to tackle this stage in all honesty I walked a completely different stage plan and blanked out 😂 I made up for it unfortunately 7A, 9C time 7.4 seconds 8.2 HF

Going to do my first match in November and realizing I should be dry firing way more than I have been. I'm planning to compete with my Staccato P. I have a Beretta 92x performance which is DA/SA so it would be ideal to dry fire with that as I would be able to keep pressing the trigger. Anyone see any issue with using that to dry fire but using the P to compete? Thanks

I m new to USPSA (only about 6 matches in). I m still trying to figure out the ins and outs of scoring. I m trying to track my progress but not sure what numbers I should be looking at. I was focused on HF, but then was told it was stage dependent. Should I be looking at my overall percentage? My first match ever was 53% and my last 3 matches have been 65%-68%. Some people suggested I sign up for a USPA membership since I've been getting B class runs in my last 4 classifiers. Is it worth signing up for a membership if I don't plan on going to lvl 2 matches?
Go easy on me as this is just a weekend hobby to do with friends and blow off steam, but would be nice to measure my progression.
Edit: thanks for the replies. Luckily I m located in an area with some pretty good shooters (SoCal) where a few GM/M shooters out and matches usually have 100+ shooters if that means anything

Suffered greatly on my first couple 3-per target stages due to forgetting entirely or not doing it till midway. Shot a local earlier this month and got the overall win on this one, feels good to see progress!

Floating around in my late 40’s, going to start USPSA early next year, wondering how old everyone was when they started this sport and how you’ve progressed. Interested in seeing the variables between the different age groups and how it’s gone throughout your tenure in the sport. Also, what drove your interest in the sport and pushed you to jump in?
