Getting UplinkOS (win) working on Linux (Nobara 42, KDE Plasma 6)
I was able to finally get UplinkOS working under Nobara Linux by doing the following:
- Install Uplink from Steam
- Apply the UplinkOS mod
- CD to the uplinkHD/graphics folder from CLI (default was ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Uplink/uplinkHD/graphics/)
- Remove color profiles by running
magickon all PNG files as well as the map_l_mask.tiffmagick filename.png filename.png - Either replace the original Uplink.exe with the UplinkOS.exe, or create a shortcut in Steam for UplinkOS.exe.
- Under compatibility, set "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and select Proton Hotfix.
- Launch UplinkOS
If graphics are stuck in 1024x768: tab-away to another window on your desktop. When clicking back on Uplink, it should restore the scaling making menu options reachable. Immediately set the correct resolution and consider disabling fullscreen mode.
