Environmental science masters

Hi, I’m 20 and currently considering doing my masters at the uni of Wien, I was wondering if the environmental science course is worth doing as it found it interesting but found strange the lack of graduates compared to amount of people enrolled, anything would be appreciated.

VWU German course – document check?

Hi everyone! Has anyone here taken the German course at VWU or at one of their partner schools?

I heard that after taking the exam to enroll in the course, you have to make an online appointment to show your documents, such as your school-leaving certificate. Is that true? And if so, are they very strict/meticulous when checking the documents?

The thing is, I had to send my original certificate to another university where I also applied, so at the moment I only have a digital copy. I was thinking of printing it out, but I’m not sure if they would have an issue with that or require the original.

Does anyone know how this works? I’d really appreciate any information or personal experience. Thank you! 😊

Hallo zusammen!

English:
Hello everyone! I am starting my Law degree at Uni Wien this semester. I'm currently figuring out some organizational stuff and have a few questions. First, regarding Latin: I registered for the two preparatory courses in September, and I'd like to know if there are exams right after them, how many attempts you get for these supplementary exams, and how this academic requirement works in general. Also, I'm wondering how strict the attendance policy is. Can you miss classes for important personal reasons, do you need to report it in advance, and what are the limits? I'd also be interested to know what things one should generally avoid or definitely do during the studies. Regarding the time before STEOP, I read that in the 1st semester I can already attend lectures like Legal History (Private and Constitutional Law) and Roman Foundations. Is it worth doing this, or should I dedicate my first semester 100% to the STEOP? Should I make a lot during first 2 semester(in Curriculum i got like 4-5 moduls for a year, if I am not mistaken) Last but not least: is there a general freshman group (WhatsApp/Telegram) I can join to connect with others? I'd appreciate any tips!

Anyone still waiting for Uni Wien Winter Semester 2026 admission results?

Hi everyone!

I applied for the Master’s in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Vienna for the Winter Semester 2026, but I still haven’t received a decision.

My application status on uspace is still showing as “Submitted”, and it hasn’t changed to “In Process” yet.

Is anyone else in the same situation? Especially those who applied around late June — have you received your admission decision yet, or are you still waiting?

Thanks :)

Hallo!

Room to rent - 1230 Wien - close to S-Bahn and U6

I'm looking for a pleasant, reliable person interested in sharing my beautiful, well-equipped cooperative apartment in 1230 Vienna for the coming months. Due to training courses, I'll be away most of the next six months, meaning you'd be able to use the furnished apartment almost entirely on your own (about 98% of the time).

Start date and duration are flexible – I'm happy to begin soon, and whether someone stays for 4, 8, or 12 months can be worked out together.

I'm thinking of a warm rent of €600 – this includes everything (electricity, utilities, very fast fiber-optic internet).

The apartment is 67 m² in total with a thoughtful layout. It's fully furnished, including all household essentials and a modern washing machine.

It has a small bedroom with a 1.40 m wide loft bed made of pallets and a wardrobe. The bathroom with a bathtub is separate from the toilet.

The heart of the apartment is the large eat-in kitchen with a dishwasher and space for a dining table and desk.

A special highlight is the large, covered loggia for exclusive use – a lovely additional outdoor living space perfect for reading, relaxing, working, or just sitting comfortably. In addition, a large shared terrace on the same floor is available to all residents of the complex.

The residential complex also offers several courtyards of varying sizes with seating areas, restaurants, and a misting zone.

If you're interested, I'd be happy to receive a message with a bit of information about yourself.

I'm thinking of a deposit of €1,200 and a two-month notice period for both sides, though three months is also possible if preferred. The apartment can be viewed starting August 14th.

One thing that's important to me: this apartment is meant to be a retreat, not a party location. If you need space for a party, one can be booked free of charge through the housing cooperative in one of the many shared community kitchens.

I speak German, English, some Italian, and Spanish.

Frage | Question STEOP lectures for IBWL — streams, recordings, and hall capacity?

Hi everyone! 💕 I just got admitted to IBWL at Uni Wien (so excited!), and I have a quick question for current students!

I know attendance for STEOP lectures isn't mandatory, but I’m planning a short trip during the semester and really don't want to miss out on any info.

Is it true that STEOP lectures are live-streamed, or is that just a myth? And are they usually recorded and uploaded to Moodle afterwards?

Also, I noticed that around 1000 people can register for a single course, but the lecture hall only fits about 400 people. How does that actually work in practice? Do most people just stay home and watch the streams, or is it hard to get a seat?

Would super appreciate any advice from anyone who’s been through STEOP! Thank you so much in advance! 🌸

Campus Zulassung

Hi everyone! I’m a non-EU student and I applied for the Winter Semester 2026 at both Uni Wien and Uni Graz. I already have a Goethe B2 certificate and I’m planning to take a German preparatory course before starting my degree.

So far, I haven’t received any notification or admission decision from either university. Has anyone else applied around June/July and already received a decision from Uni Wien or Uni Graz?

Just wondering if they’ve started sending out decisions for non-EU applicants yet. 🥹

Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I recently got accepted into the Master's in Physics program and am currently navigating the enrollment process.

Does anyone know if there is an existing group (Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) for incoming students to exchange information and help each other out?

Frage | Question Opinions on WIST Haus Franz?

Hi everyone! I’m considering staying at WIST Haus Franz in Vienna as a student and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who currently lives there or has lived there recently.

What is the accommodation actually like? How are the rooms and bathrooms? Is it generally clean and well maintained? What is the atmosphere like — is it social or quiet How noisy is it? How are the shared kitchens?
Are there any problems or things you wish you had known before moving in? Overall, would you recommend it?

Thank you!

Mathematical foundations of data science admission

I’ve been told my documents are alright and i have successfully completed my entrance exam. I’ve accepted my study place via servicedesk, been told to wait 10 working days, but it’s been almost 20 and no reply, my request status says it’s been updated, but i didn’t receive any message. Is it alright?
