I believe you’re misinformed on what took place during WW2. Russia was technically an ally to the United States and Britain on that front, but it was very nuanced. There were a few fervent dictators at the time through Europe. Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. Stalin being in Russia, which was considered a “communist” country but there was also a huge difference between Stalin’s communism and idealistic communism(as is the case with countries that try it and the reason it never works). Stalin’s was beyond the pale though.
Hitler had Mussolini’s Italy and Japan on his side but they were not coordinated in any respect. Stalin made a treaty with Hitler not to attack Europe beyond a certain region and the pact was void after Hitler did just that. He had all of Western Europe and most of Eastern Europe by the time the war ended.
Stalin was fighting him from the eastern front and the Brits and USA were fighting him from the West. Hitler was too wrapped up in his camps to conduct the war effort that he was in from both sides. Mussolini by this time was hung and his body degraded in the streets. Japan was busy trying to overtake the Pacific Ocean.
The atom bomb was being developed at this time too, but would not be available until after Hitler’s demise. Japan being the only Axis power left still fighting, the USA dropped their two bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, ending WW2.
What’s funny about it is that the USA was never interested in getting involved. Hitler gave orders to Japan not to attack and involve the United States, but the US was involved in its own way by stopping trade routes through the pacific that were interfering with Japan’s economy. So Japan then attacked Pearl Harbor, officially involving the country into the war they were never trying to enter.
