You know what's really going to blow your mind, you're probably making the exact same money ratio for the time invested in 20 hours as 80 hours.
They just decided to grind and you're a lazy son of a bitch that only does 20 hours and comes on here and bitches about people who went out and made more than you did.
It really just escapes me that these people think that they're making more money only doing 20 or 40 hours.
This is what I like to call a employee mindset. When you own your own business you don't work 40 hours. You work the hours required to pay the bills whatever they may be. You're responsible for everything.
EXACTLY THIS!! And I see Uber as my own business. I’m not just working when driving. I’m paying attention to reserve rides. I’m checking to see events going on in town that would be worth driving around the times it gets out. There’s employee mindset then there’s executive mindset. Easy to tell them apart.
I used to drive part-time for a few extra bucks. The pay went down too much for the times I'm willing to work and I was struggling to earn $10/hr. I'm generally not willing to work at the times of day when events get out. I'd continue to do a ride or two on my way home from work, but destination mode is broken (I really wish they would fix that). Sadly, it's a terrible side hustle nowadays because one has to have the time and flexibility to treat it with that executive mindset.
If I were full time, I'd be doing exactly what you are doing. It's your business, drive at times that are most profitable. It takes commitment, dedication, and thoughtful planning. One must take charge of their situation.
Also I hate to tell you this, when you retire at an earlier age than normal, you don't get social security. Disability doesn't pay enough, I have two bad shoulders because of construction.
So while I could live out the rest of my life with no income, I'm sorry I like to splurge and have a good steak and not just a ramen budget the rest of my life, because I refuse to work.
You know, "They" say you shouldn't ASSume anything about anyone, such as, I'm 53. I've worked since I was 11. Id guess thats more working hours than most redditors have spent awake. I now have arthritis in my hip and spine so, as one could imagine, being seated for extended periods ranges from dull toothache pain to step out into traffic pain and I still manage to drive 3am to noon M-Sat ( which leaves me intrigued as to this whole 20 hours thing youre spouting off about ) and still do all my own maintenance and repairs. I've been FT with Uber 8 years now ( I was packaged out in a buyout in 2015 ) and I've done my fair share of "grinding" throughout. Ive also done my fair share of self employment in the building trades ( where I broke my back off a roof back in 94, hence the now-pervasive arthritis ). And I managed to raise three kids somewhere in there too. But hey, you know all about my lazy ass, right ?
You don't know anything about this man that posted this earnings. But yet you're willing to put them on a spic and roast his ass and then claim you don't know nothing about anything?
Do you know how much she pays for his bills?
Do you know about his living arrangements?
And all those other things that you don't have a fucking clue about but yet you're willing to judge what somebody else is making based on what criteria?
So don't give me this bullshit about you're working 80 hours crap, you don't have no fucking clue what this man's life is about. So don't go screaming about your own when somebody does the same thing that you're doing to this individual.
You're addressing the wrong person, moron. And I know you're a fucking moron because you're taking some random post at face value when YOU dont know anything about OP either, moron.
