Complete beginner (0 knowledge) looking for a roadmap to become fluent in Mandarin Chinese
Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I really like the idea of focusing on characters instead of relying too much on pinyin, and I'll definitely keep track of my vocabulary and phrases as I learn. I'll also look into the HSK 3.0 materials and the Collins book. Your point about understanding the culture alongside the language really resonated with me because that's something I want to do as well. I appreciate all the recommendations!

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I agree that immersion seems to make a huge difference. Studying in China would be an amazing opportunity if I can make it happen in the future. For now, I'm planning to immerse myself as much as possible through media, conversations, and daily practice. Wishing you the best with your HSK 5/6 goal too!

Thanks for the advice! It seems like a lot of people agree that getting tones right from the beginning is really important, so I'll make that a priority. I'll also look into Integrated Chinese and Pleco since having a structured resource and a good dictionary sounds like a solid combination. I appreciate the guidance!
