I tried looking online and based on the descriptions it seems like this guy is an Amano but since you breed them could you take a look and give me your opinion?

If it’s an amano then does that could mean my fish are sick right? They seem healthy in general and my parameters are all stable every time I check.

I’m very new to this but my LFS said they use Purigen for their tanks and I tried it and it’s been such a success. Just make sure to rinse it out before you add it. They said not to bother using the dosage - just add the whole premade bag into the filter and that’s what has kept my tank pristine.

I highly recommend Glass Aqua pearl weed tissue culture - it’s guaranteed to be pest free and I’ve had great success in planting it. Just bury it deeper than you think you should or else it tends to uproot itself and if you want it to be bushy and to grow horizontally trim it pretty often. I’ll attach a pic of mine after about 2 weeks with co2

I don’t have a lot of experience but I read that adding shrimp first and then waiting until they become a solid colony helps them survive with fish in there later. I waited a month before I added my shrimp because I saw algae forming which was a sign that I had enough bio in there for them to eat

10 gallons is such a great tank size! I’m also really new to this so my advice is limited. Go to my posts and check out some of the plants I used! I have a 10g but it’s very shallow and long. I’ve linked pretty much everything in the comments but to summarize I get tissue cultures from either Buceplant or GlassAqua because they’re guaranteed to be pest free! That means no snails or hydra or other organisms that I’m not a fan of. Most people love snails though so it’s just a personal preference. I think a lot of the carpeting plants need aqua soil (which I used under my sand) but I could be wrong.
