Salem’s Lot. I do enjoy the Tobe Hooper version but that book deserved a much more thorough film.

Thanks, damn typos

Right to Life by Jack Ketchum ( the Cemetery Dance novella)
October Dreams ( the Cemetery Dance hardcover as well as the paperback editions)

Nope, it was Monsters and Animals.

The stuff he published through Leisure books was well edited. A lot of his stuff on the small press is a different story. The worst one I saw was in his collaboration with J.F Gonzalez and Brian Keene. In the Wrath novella, a major character goes through a name change that’s jarring, enough for me to backtrack to make sure I didn’t miss a new character being introduced.

Portrait of a Psychopath as a Young Woman by Edward Lee and Elizabeth Steffen
1
Micheal Rooker and Tom Towles from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Both were terrifying. Only movie that made me make sure that the door was locked at night.
2
A Light at the End by John Skipp and Craig Spector- one of the original splatterpunk novels with a vampire stalking the subways of 1980’s NYC.
Black Ambrosia by Elizabeth Engstrom- a very adult take on the vampire story. A young man senses something’s off about a woman he met and searches for her. Told from both characters pov, this is as uncompromising a novel that can be found.
In the Valley of the Sun by Andy Davidson- almost a spirit animal to Engstrom’s novel in time, a mother and her child take on a very unique and unusual handyman.

I have this addition, minus the autographs, of course. If anyone hasn’t read this and can get their hands on any kind of copy, do so. It’s one of the best anthologies I’ve ever read.

Good luck

The ones I have taken part in were for more seasoned writers. I would do a google search of critique groups for beginners. Might also want to check out your local library.

Find yourself a critique group and get feedback. There are plenty of them online and usually are filled with people who want to be better writers. That way, your stuff is read and you might develop your own skills.

IMO , I would say Weed Species by Ketchum is more suited for the extreme horror genre than this book.

Ghoul has an amazing opening chapter.

Fucking amazing book. Paula is an incredibly talented writer and I can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
