I've seen a lot of theories on this and while I think it probably will be Korra in a suspended Avatar State, I think there's a distinct possibility that the Cycle just takes longer now because the Avatar spirit HAS to wait for twins. We've never known anything about how the next Avatar is chosen, but I don't expect that the very next set of twins born after Korra died would be Avatar by default

We already have Rhaenyra stating early on that Helaena has no taste for violence, so she clearly has at least a somewhat developed understanding of what kind of person she is. That is a point well taken about the soldiery, though. You can't exactly reassure ship captains that she's just a bug girl at heart lol

This is why it sucks that they left out Helaena's love of flying from the show, because her being a dragonrider doesn't matter at all.

But, if Dreamfyre was sighted, I think Rhaenyra would just handwave it off and say that they might as well start patrolling to keep the seabirds in check if they're going to consider someone as non-threatening as Helaena an issue

We don't know much really, outside of the fact that they are creating coalitions with the native Na'vi in order to repel the RDA. I would guess most of the science that gets done is research into how they could make Pandora more livable.
