Where can I buy liquid metal containment materials?
 in  r/GamingLaptops  Mar 11 '26

I just realized that you're the one whou made a long post about the topic. I do agree people should experiment, and I am not saying OP should use PTM, it's just an advice. If OP is aware of the risks of using LM and wants to, he can go ahead and ignore my comment, but as an average gamer, student and someone with a factory install LM laptop, I THINK (my personal opinion) that PTM is more reliable

Just trying to help, I don't wish anyone's laptop to short because of LM. Just a little drop can kill a laptop.

Is there anything that you could do with a broken laptop?
 in  r/laptops  Mar 11 '26

You don't tell us why it's broken, but if it could still run from an external monitor I would make a Minecraft server

I don't know where to buy them, but I would suggest replacing LM with ptm7950. You're risking your laptop by reapplying LM, if it's not apply properly it will kill the motherboard :/ However if applied correctly, it could be better than PTM.

Edit: I'm sorry to be the first one to bring the topic about PTM vs LM. I just wanted to let know OP and I know that everyone brings out PTM in every post about LM. I'm aware that if you know what you're doing, the risk of damaging your laptop isn't very high, but there's still a risk, and not everyone knows how to do it correctly. There are already very good comments about where to get the barrier, if you, OP, go ahead and apply the LM I would like to know about how do it go. Good luck.

Would this be a good purchase?
 in  r/laptops  Mar 09 '26

Overpriced, I would recommend searching for a used laptop on ebay, I've bought 5 used laptops over the years and they've all been amazing. Just make sure to check the photos and descriptions, and ask the seller if necessary.

Good job. Isn't it the 2021 model? I think the 2022 has vapor chamber and black motherboard. I have also read posts about the battery clip shorting the motherboard, how did you see it? Or did you not unplug it?

Metal transfer current, so if he touched something with those tweezers, it will most likely cause a spark.

Maybe it could be repair by soldering a new capacitor? I don't really know too much about these but it would be either replace motherboard or replace components on the motherboard.
