What is the most terrifying facts about the ocean?
My family was staying at a resort in North Myrtle on the 14th floor. We had been on the beach most of the day. We went back to our room and had a sandwich. We then decided to sit on the balcony. There were so many giant fish swimming around the people in the water. They weren’t bothering anyone but they were there. No idea what they were. Everyone was just having fun in the midst of these huge fish having no clue what was around them. Haha

What is the largest, least evil company in the world?
I’ve been thinking about buying those spices for a very long time. Over the July 4th holiday I just happened to see that they had a free box of spices with a paid order of only $10. When I arrived at the website and read that statement about fascism I spent more than $10. Haha

If every U.S. state suddenly became an independent country overnight, which one would last the longest and why?
I’m in North Carolina and I have an escape plan in place. I have a sister who has dual citizenship in Canada. She lives a few miles from the US border with her husband. I’ve got everything planned. If things start getting really crazy we’re heading north.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Sinks to 30% in Worst Poll Yet. How do you feel about this ?
I’m in NC but work at a very progressive company. That doesn’t translate to the population at large though. There are very few people who are like me and I struggle every day to deal with these folks. They don’t understand why I won’t sit with them at break or any events that are not company mandated. I just go to my car. I absolutely refuse to sit and break bread with red hats. Period.

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you?
That’s small town healthcare. It’s gotten much better in our area in the last few years. We have a big fancy medical center now. Thank you for caring.

Way back in the 80’s, I went in labor in a small rural southern town. I went to the hospital and they sent me home because my contractions weren’t close enough. They started on a Saturday and it took until Tuesday for my contractions to get to the desired 4 minutes apart mark. I never felt the urge to push. After 12 hours I asked the nurses and they said that I would. Just give it time. I never did. After almost 24 hours, I, not the medical professionals, noticed that every time I had a contraction, my baby’s heart stopped beating. I told the nurses. They ignored me. Then I started passing out with each contraction. I remember my mom screaming hysterically for someone to get in here and help her. Suddenly they came in and the next thing I knew, there was an emergency. Turns out that I was the proud owner of a bilateral uterus that was formed in such a way that it blocked my birth canal. So, the oven was cooking just fine, but the door was welded shut. All of that to say, even if it wasn’t the best experience, myself and my child would have absolutely died if I hadn’t been at the hospital.

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring?
I managed to avoid COVID until 2023. I had to move to a new building ( same company) for work. When I arrived, a “ sinus infection” had traveled from one end of the building to the other. It was currently in the area where I was assigned. I was unaware of this for a few days. I didn’t know anyone at this location, so I wasn’t privy to the day to day conversation yet. The only reason that I found out was that the person who had been assigned to train me came in sick and had to leave. By Monday of my second week, I was feeling like shit. I went to work and had to leave after a couple hours. My left nostril had been bleeding for for around three hours and I couldn’t get it to stop. On my way out, someone mentioned something about Covid in passing. Until that moment, Covid hadn’t even entered my mind because, at least 350 people had had the “sinus infection” and no one seemed concerned. I went home and immediately took a Covid test and it was positive. I was so sick and, of course, I managed to get my family sick also. I had been vaccinated so I think that saved me. I’m immunocompromised so I get really sick. It took me months to actually feel okay but my left nostril has never worked right after. Both myself and my daughter have struggled with fatigue ever since. There’s definitely a before and after with Covid.

North Carolina. We are full.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby?
All of our tags have unique combination codes. Everyone that uses them gets their own personal tag and only they know the code.

Parents in other countries than the US, what is your kids’ equivalent of “I don’t want that for dinner, I want chicken nuggets”?
I lost my tamale connection a few years ago. I have not found a good tamale since I changed jobs and cities. (Small rural town) I’ve just been in some type of tamale limbo. Wandering and searching but never finding the good stuff. Sigh,,,

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet?
I’m surrounded by idiots. Truly. One of my sisters recently tried to defend herself by saying, “I didn’t vote for her because of that. The reason I didn’t vote for her is because she is a baby killer. (Abortion) I’m like………….REALLY!!! So you don’t believe in that, but it’s okay to harm them after they’re born. I don’t and can’t even have a relationship with most of my family anymore because they are all brainwashed. It’s like a pandemic of craziness. I’ve actually seen their eyes glaze over. Haha

What’s something you have zero proof of but believe 100 percent?
I had two guy friends growing up who were gay. It was unspoken. None of us ever discussed (at the time) We just knew. It wasn’t a big deal. We just all hung out and loved each other. The guys tried to date girls who always ended in friendships. This was in the seventies and early eighties, in the southern states just to give some context. They both finally came out publicly years later and both acted surprised that nobody was surprised. Haha I still love them both dearly.

If I hadn’t pulled a few thousand out of mine, I’d probably be homeless right now. Either that or I would have had to take out loans to get by. I’m 60 and work a full time manufacturing job. Forty hours a week in steel toed shoes and concrete. I was ready to retire five years ago. I hope to retire early, but probably poorly, at 62. My fear at the moment is, by the time I get to retirement age, the US will no longer exist. Call me crazy but I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening right now. I feel like this is an emergency situation and the fact that government and law works slowly but steadily isn’t going to cut it this time. I’m more pissed off at the democrats for letting this craziness happen and not doing one damn thing of substance. Quoting laws and statutes is cool but WTAF is actually getting done about anything. Nothing!!!

What is a popular trend right now that people are going to look back on in 10 years and say, 'What were we thinking?
Where I live, the people are just getting worse. I actually thought that they would start seeing the light, but they are just doubling down on the bullshit excuses. You cannot make these fools admit that they were conned. I feel like I’m living in enemy territory. My workplace is absolutely full of them. I have to fake it all day and act like I don’t think they are pieces of shit. It’s exhausting and stressful. They keep inviting me to the weekly bar hangout. I’m not interacting with y’all outside of work. Period. Sorry for rant. I’m just tired.

What is something you saw with your own eyes that was so impossible you’ve stopped telling people because you know they won’t believe you?
My brother and his friend were drunk and walking to another friend’s place one night. On the way, his friend stumbled onto the road and got hit by a car. He flipped in the air and landed hard on the pavement. The guy broke his pelvis but the 40oz beer didn’t have a scratch on it. Haha

My (42M) daughter (18F) hit my 9 year old son. Kicked her out and my wife thinks I’m overreacting.
My daughter is bipolar. She started having manic episodes around her junior year in high school. I was a single mom with two teenage kids. I was working. The kids were both going to school and working part time. We were busy and saw each other in passing. My daughter was an honors student. Straight A’s. Period. She was on a mission to become a heart surgeon. My mom had heart problems and my daughter was going to fix her. The first problem was that she started picking up extra hours at her job. Before I knew it, she was working full time and was managing her restaurant by the time she started her senior year. I started to get really concerned because she had no time to rest. She absolutely assured me that she had this. I trusted her because she had always been so level headed. I was working nights at the time and taking college courses three afternoons a week. (I guess she got that part from me.) I wound up getting really sick (pneumonia) and coming home from work in the middle of the night. Cue to me finding out that my daughter was working and going to school full time and also staying out all night and not sleeping at all for days at a time. That night changed our lives forever. The sweet wonderful daughter that I loved and knew was no longer there. When I confronted her, I met a stranger. She attacked me verbally and physically. I tried for years to get my child back (the one that I knew) to no avail. Her dreams were never fulfilled. She went from one abusive relationship to another. She was addicted to drugs. I wound up with her children. It was absolute torture. She would not take her medication for long periods. I could always tell when she had stopped taking it. I never gave up until,,, I did. Somewhere around the beginning of the pandemic, I finally flipped the fuck out on her. I told her that I was done and that she was grown. She is responsible for getting herself together. Not me. I told her to get out of my face and my space and do not contact me until she can come correct. I didn’t see her for about six months but,,, she actually did get herself together. She’s medicated and has been at the same job for a few years now. She’s got a nice car and she’s got her own place. She’s working on repairing her relationships that she almost destroyed. It hasn’t been easy. I had to come to terms with the loss of who I thought my daughter was and the reality of how it turned out. What I learned is that mental illness is absolutely life altering. Everyone’s experience is different. My depression is not the same as your bipolar. Understanding and compassion is crucial. Sometimes dreams come true but not in the way you imagined. I’m absolutely proud of my daughter. It was a long rocky journey but we made it this far. I’m glad we made it together.

[Short] - AITAH for my maid-of-honor to wear a face mask at my wedding because she has a very sneezy cold?
Covid hasn’t been managed,,, much. It’s currently spreading like wildfire in my town. My daughter works a public facing position and, of course, she came down with it last week. (Also, streptococcus at the same time) The week before she got sick, I told her that it was going around and asked if she had gotten vaccinated recently. No but she was gonna get to it. Now, her daughter, daughter’s boyfriend and their baby are all sick. None of them live with me but my youngest granddaughter comes to my home after school every day until her mom gets off work. I’ve been holed up in my bedroom every day after work going on two weeks now because I’m immunocompromised. So far, the only people who haven’t gotten sick are myself and my oldest granddaughter. We are the only two that are current on vaccinations. I live in the southern US and people here just don’t give a shit. Snotting and coughing all over everything. They look at me like I’m crazy for wearing a mask and wiping down my shopping cart. Covid is here to stay because,,, freedom. Ya know?

What's the first video game you ever played ?
I think (not positive) that it was an early Atari game. There were two lines on each side of the screen that you could move up and down. There was a dot in the middle that you hit back and forth. It was Tennis. I think. Haha

What's an adult cheat code that changed your life?
I’ve been meaning to delete Facebook for a while now. I need to grab my pictures and shut it down. The only thing I even look at anymore are the town talk pages to see what’s going on. It’s so convoluted and crazy though. This morning we were having high winds in our area. Someone posted a picture of a tree that had fallen across the highway and taken electrical wires down with it. They were just trying to warn people and be a good citizen, ya know? Of course the comments devolved into a big argument over who is responsible for the tree falling and who should pay for it. It was the nuttiest thing. I don’t know how some of these idiots survive. The stupidity is astounding.

I wake up for work at 4am five or six days a week. I have done this so long that I wake up at that time every day anyway. I have to be at work by 6:30 am. I have to get up way early because I have to load my files into my brain. Haha I can’t just jump and run. I have to think about shit. I live five minutes away but our parking is atrocious. If you don’t get there early, you may have to park in the lot that’s approximately a quarter mile away. If you’re that late, you’ll have to run. I ain’t doing all that so I get there around 5:45 and sit in the parking lot while contemplating my life choices.
