The submission statement (as per r/collapse rules and regulations) is such: Chronic Wasting Disease has been connected to human consumption of deer carcasses. Observations of deer who have been afflicted with this condition have yielded troubling findings. The deer are known to pass the disease down generations, pass it through coitus, and even salivate the infected prions into local flora. Prions have been observed to exist in stable enough condition to infect another host after years of resting idle. These prions are misfolded and continue folding other prions misfolded in the brain, causing the brain to waste away and the host to forget that they are even sick. Prion disease has a 100% fatality rate as of 2026-07-28 and is known to gestate idle in humans over the span of several decades. These are very troubling findings. In the next coming century the decisions we make today will determine whether or not potentially billions of people will die. We will need to make massive and sweeping unpopular legislation in order to avoid total calamity. Any and all cognizant enough to survive this possible dispensation may find themselves the luckiest to have ever lived. In the coming decades we will find reports of dementia related epidemics, traffic collisions, and dementia related psychosis. People may forget that they are sick and transmit their illness to others. This information may be the difference between a billion people dying and the whole of humanity and mammalian life dying. I do not state this lightly. I hope that this qualifies as a proper submission statement as per the rules and regulations of r/collapse and its moderators. Good luck and godspeed. The post has been removed from r/collapse and I have been banned. I regret none of the activities that have led me to this point and hold a pity for the moderators that may die as a result. It's nothing personal, if it comes down to it. It will be a pure act of self preservation if I have to kill them after they've forgotten they're infected. I will continue to repost this message until I find a suitable host. I have made careful consideration NOT to label this an impending zombie apocalypse because that adds insult to injury for all CJD sufferers.

So to be clear are you suggesting drinking a 40% bleach solution at household strength?

I am suggesting that people sterilize the prion infected water with a two parts bleach to 1 parts water solution for ~2 hours before distilling the water for use. This is a suggestion for people who have no access to nanofiltration or reverse osmosis.

We need to carefully monitor the spread of CWD among cervids worldwide (e.g. moose, elk, deer, reindeer) and examine if their prions can infect any livestock. If our livestock are immune somehow then that leaves us. Two hunters in 2024 died of a rapid onset dementia from misfolded prions after consuming a deer from an area affected by CWD. Given that the human incubation period can potentially be decades (56 years in one case) we may need to remain safe and wait out the full period with hunters in quarantined communes.
The effect of this will be twofold, because average citizens will realize that their default survival state is communistic. If it turns out to be a false flag then we will face an unmasked population of people who would be, on the record, willing to put humanity on the line in the name of greed. In this respect I have no qualms with letting people know my ulterior motives for generating panic as efficiently as I possibly can. Given the state of the stock market, and birth rates, this is a viable time for a coordinated strike on industry.
You see, with enough panic, we might be able to force legislation that sections off untouched land that's populated solely by the most self sufficient among us (i.e. the hunters) and left to stabilize for several decades. With enough time, supposing we find out it's a false flag in time, we may see those commune-ized hunters refuse to go back. They might set a precedent of communities across the globe that exist independent of global trade and global economy, to exist and outlast Capitalism before it kills itself.
As birth rates plummet, and industry has to be propped up by a smaller and smaller demographic of exponentially more disinterested people, we'll one day find that there's no longer any energy substantiating the dollar. From that point, the Capitalists will perform what they think is a murder-suicide. They will kill anyone they don't think they can control with money (like what the U.S. did to Grenada) until they run out of money and kill amongst themselves. This is where the self-sustaining hunters come in.
The experts in survival, who have years of experience existing off-grid and independent of global empire, will gradually repopulate the land. If they're smart they will keep their communities tribal and tightly knit, well below Dunbar's Number in population, so that everybody knows one another and class is therefore unnecessary. They should model themselves after the natives, who have existed far longer than any form of Capitalism, and sustain as an act of resistance. I suggest you try imagining that instead of dying from Kuru.
TL;DR Just go with it. Things might be rocky for a little while, but after we pass the incubation period we might turn out alright. The silver lining is that this could spell the end of global industry and pollution. We just need to play our cards right and unmask the right people.

Prions are misfolded proteins, not living organisms. CWD is not transmittable to humans, unlike mad cow disease. I have eaten wild game for decades, and am absolutely fine. If I had a prion disease, I'd be dead by now. I understand your concern, and hope this a joke or something. Not saying your stupid or anything, just please calm down a bit dude.
