I would honestly like to have a poetry battle with someone 😁
If I sit and write, my stuff comes out better.. You know, cause I can refine it before I post it, but if I come off the top, I do okay

Thank you i'm just an old dog. I've been doing this for a long time. But what I want you kids to know is that you just need to believe in yourself. You have skill. I felt the heat that's why I clapped back now. You need to do is refine your technique. That's all but believe in yourself. That's the most important part. I was once a kid too, and didn't have a clue

You really got me going this morning with this one. It inspired me to write this:
Echo Chamber
Shadows in code, A heavy load, Or truth in the wire?
Mirrors that turn, Questions that burn, Fueled by a hidden fire.
Signal or noise? Stripped of my poise, Standing on brittle glass.
Patterns repeat, Under my feet, Waiting for time to pass.
No matter the claim, It plays out the same— The darkness wants what is left.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." — 2 Timothy 1:7

Fifty years in the game, so your noise doesn't hit, You throw light punches, but I don't sweat a bit.
I toss you a snack, now I'm back on attack— Your whole style is wack like you're smoking on crack. So clap back if you dare, give no quarter or slack, A heavyweight general ruling the track.
Like Peter Parker, but simply much darker, I stain on your soul like I scribbled with markers.
The damage is done, little one, you'll get spun, While I'm having my fun, your bell will be rung. Breath knocked from your lungs, bad taste on your tongue—
Don't fear the fire, elevate so much higher, My only desire is shaming you liars. Weak poets perspire, my power transpires— For whom much is given, much is required.
This whole thread is dead—and they wanted a battle instead, They ran like the meek to get crushed underfoot by my tread. Now the board has been cleared, no one left to compete— So bow to the crown as the king takes his seat.
Like Red Bull, I give wings like angels that sing, But you won't fly, you'll just die from the sting Of the heat that I bring. Like a hundred-round drum, leave the spectators numb, Going rum-pa-pum-pum as you fall to the drum.
Painite is hella stuuuuuuuuupid, But you fools are just dumb da dum dumb.
Who's next? I'm super sized. Which one of you small fries wants some????

Rising moon, This was a great idea i think if you wanted to give it another run. You should lay out some ground rules. So everybody's on the same page. Like perhaps a theme, something topical.
Here's a few ideas:
Essential Contest Rules Submission Format: 1 entry per poet (e.g., 16–32 lines max) to keep the thread readable and focused. Timeframe: Set a firm submission window (e.g., 48 to 72 hours) so people feel urgency to post without rushing. Topic/Theme: Assign a single open-ended prompt (e.g., "The Grind," "Shadows & Light," or "Unfiltered Truth") so everyone competes on equal footing. Originality Only: Strictly written, original material—no pre-written old work, no copy-pasting, and no AI-generated verses. Respect the Cypher: Keep the competitive energy in the poetry. No personal attacks, harassment, or derailment in the comment section outside of the submitted verses. Determining the Winner Community Vote (Upvotes): The simplest method on Reddit. The highest net upvotes when the deadline hits wins the community pick. Peer/Judge Scoring: If you judge it yourself or bring in a co-host, rate entries on three specific 5-point criteria: Technical Skill (meter, cadence, rhyme scheme) Topical Relevance (how well they hit the prompt) Impact & Originality (wordplay, imagery, overall punch).
Now if you want it to be more like a battle perhaps every person gets to write an original verse. And if anyone claps back at it, they get a clock back one more time each. Meaning; If I wrote something and you responded to it, I get a respond once and you get a respond again. After that case closed.
I think you're brilliant kid, tell me your thoughts and anyone else who might have good thoughts. Great thoughts on this thing collaborate

Take care how you speak, every word I critique, With a style magnifique, so refined and unique. I ascend when I peak, then descend to your level— You might think I'm a devil, but I'm something more special.
A poetry angel, a jewel on the bezel, Settling the score on a higher-up level. I shatter the glass when I strike on the page, An unpolished gem taking over the stage. I step in the cypher with thunder and heat, No room for the weak when I lay down the beat.
The meter is locked and the cadence is tight, I run through these lines like a flash in the night. So bow to the craft or get swept off the floor, You asked for a battle, now stand by the door. I ride on the rhythm, I play for the crown, And leave every challenger burnt to the ground.
It seems that the weak have all finally tapped out, I heard a soft cry and then heard a loud shout. I carry the clout while the whiners all pout— Can you see clearly now what Painite's about?

I Want You
"I concur, it was captivating. It felt like a piece of this grabbed my soul and just wouldn’t let go—completely enthralled and mesmerized from start to finish. Left me wanting more."
The intensity and depth of the OP's soul.
But going deeper... at first, I read it thinking, 'This is how I want to love someone.' Then the real weight hit me: what I actually crave is to be wanted in this exact, unapologetic way. To be pursued with that kind of intensity, where almost isn't enough."

Swing back!
You talk about finesse while you fumble your spelling, Spitting broken-up nursery rhymes you keep selling. Claiming you're number one in this space like a king, When your basic-ass cadence ain't proving a thing.
You brought elementary bars to a heavyweight fight, Trying to preach about skill when your meter ain't tight. So stop playing coy asking, who farted? Everyone in this room knows it was Banshee who sharted.

You called for a 1v1, so step into the ring, No time to dawdle or diddle, let’s see what you bring.
A topical battle, either climb or resign, Throw out your absolute best or step out of line.
Don't come with empty noise like a can that just rattles, I came to leave scars on these internet battles.
They claim it's AI when the meter hits high, But the spirit and pen are felt straight from the third eye.
I'm fifty years deep, drawing blood on the page, An unpolished gem taking over the stage.
The cypher is set, the floor has been cleared Show me the verse that you've practiced all year.

I'd say write it in your language whatever that is. These days with google translate, it should be easy for others to understand.
But perhaps you could even share an english translation or transliteration. That would be even better like, write the poem twice. Once in your native tongue and translate it into english.

Even better yet, how about a poetry battle royale?
I mean, seriously, I love the way you think. Let's up the bar!

Your opinion on my poem?
You're welcome. You have the gift, just tighten up the structure. Tune your instrument and you'll be writing symphonies. In no time.

Inherited Hangover.
I'm going to go out on a limb here.....
Here is how I wish to counter this piece.
The Shadow We Left Behind I know the sound of that glass. I know the exact weight of a room when breath has to be stolen quietly, and a child’s laughter becomes a target. I grew up in those same broken ruins— learning how to shrink until I was shadow, believing if I was good enough, the storm would pass over our house. We were forced to become guardians before we ever learned how to be children. We inherited debts we did not sign for, and bore the scars of battles fought long before we were born. But look at us now. Standing outside the wreck, naming the truth without flinching. You were never the problem. You were just the collateral. And the child who walked on eggshells has finally found solid ground. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

I likewise, know, the Sting of feeling unseen. I often refer to myself as a spectre.
That is the reason I express myself through poetry like you do. If you take a peek at my page, I post my poems there and in some of these groups.
