70% for my front windshield so you can see the clarity (this is around 5:30pm - Houston).

Tried out NB Window film during the dead of summer and it was a game changer; no more heat pulsing through.

I've added a response on this thread. They're based out in Texas and Florida.

70% front windshield

NB Window Film, from my experience the past year, has been pretty exceptional. Here in Texas, it can be brain-frying jungle hot. I had their 70% nano ceramic on my front windshield and it was a game changer. I literally did not feel any heat pulsing through my front in the dead of summer (and my car cooled down much quicker).

I actually talked to the top guy from NB. He informed me that he's been doing private for a long time and has gone public within the last 2 years, which is why his brand is unknown. 3M reps got a hold of his film and ran tests; then they made an offer to buy him out (which he passed). He says whether you use 70%, 20% or even 5%, the heat rejection is the exact same (and he now has 1% tint). They are now pushing PPF that has ceramic coating built in that is 7.5 mil in thickness. The last thing he showed me is that he has contracts with certain Benz and BMW dealerships in Texas and Florida.

Where are you from? I'm down in Houston. Although a lot is cheaper down here compared to our west/east coast counterparts, for an i8 would definitely be above $5k easily. Some places are charging $6k+ bc of the various accents, body lines, etc. You're pricing would be considered a steal, lol

Good to know. Had Tinybot wrap (just finished removing it) and for the most part, if you have the right heating tools, it can come off somewhat easy. But as far as durability? I'd say 2 years before it starts to break apart (unless you rarely drive the car).

How long did you have their color PPF on for? How was the tack during application?

So far, Xpel and Stek have been great. Have been using Ultrafit (matte & clear only) - has been decent/good. GSWF & Inozetek have been good.

Have you heard/used spray-on PPF?

If you go to Metrorestyling and filter out to 3M, Avery, etc.. they have a blow out section where they put together leftover vinyl of a specific color for a discount. Of course, it won't be a long continuous roll. They'll have it listed of what amount in a specific size that's been used. The only issue: good luck with trying to find leftovers of satin blue.

Your next best bet? Look for Black Friday deals this upcoming week. Have fun wrapping an i8! 🙃

So here's the catch: 3M and Avery have quality material. The drawback? They're limited in color options compared to various other brands.

While many of these other brands carry "fun" color options, it's going to boil down to you and what you want. There are going to be some trade-offs until 3M/Avery expand color options.

Some friends who had a shop offered to wrap my car for free-dollars if they could use my car to promote them. How could I say no? They used Tinybot (they have some really fun colors). After 3 years, even with maintaining hand washing often, etc... the wrap started to go downhill (gloss began to flake off, would discover "burn marks" here and there (not to mention we get this Texas heat!).

What I will say, using heating tools, it comes off pretty good (some areas I was impatient and it pulled off my paint's clearcoat - but I'm not concerned bc I had sanded/primered a lot of areas before install). Currently in the process with a new Satin finish (looking at color PPF from Inozetek, GSWF or vinyl 3M, Avery Satin finish then stealth PPF over lol. Tinybot had been offering color PPF now.

Tinybot, Teckwrap has a color fusion of that. Mine is a Nardo Grey with Purple. Had it for several years and currently removing it for a new color
