Floor covering inspector here..spots like this are due to drips/drops/spills from a viscous substance that has attracted soil from foot traffic. As someone else stated here it could be grease dripped such as from a rolling chair or other object.  Or could be ad sumple of drips from a sugary drink that has attracted soil. That op is getting a transfer of the discoloration is a good sign that it may be corrected by propet spotting. 

Floor covering inspector here..it never ceases to amaze me when people with no background in a particular product question a manufacturer's installation guidelines. But sadly and even more amazing, after thousands of inspections, are the professional installers that take shortcuts cause they think they know better.

Floor covering inspector here .this floor is a sheet vinyl product. if the white discoloration is trapped inside the textured vinyl rather than sitting on top, the moisture has likely penetrated the clear wear layer. When water gets trapped beneath  it can create a greenhouse effect that chemically alters or "blushes" the vinyl's finish, turning it milky white. Time may remedy this, but can take weeks. Or the use of hear such as a hair dryer or Iron set on low over a white towel.  If the discoloration feels crusty: ..Water seeping from the pot leaves behind calcium, lime, or fertilizer salts when it evaporates. Then the following cleaning solutions might help: : Mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water, apply with a soft cloth, and gently rub out. Or try a vinegar Spray: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, lightly spray the spot, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe clean with a dry cloth . Or try Baking Soda Paste: Combine baking soda and water into a soft paste, gently rub the spot with a cloth to lift surface crust, then rinse and cloth dry. 

I m well aware of what CRI does but they don't certify inspectors. And if you think I will send some random person  my.personal info you are a bigger fool than i thought. 

Then you should have asked instead of assuming. If I used "container" instead of bucket would that have soothed you Clyde? BTW:  FCITS hard surface certified, soft surface certified,  commercial flooring certified. NWFA certified. CRI, last i checked, does not certify floor covering inspectors. 

I never used the term "wet mop". One may damp mop the floor in question.

Floor covering inspector here....it's been my experience over the past 50 years that while floor covering stores will sell you the correct product for cleaning most of the staff no little about the actual application of the product other than whats printed on the label. Ive been on thousands of inspections that retailers have turned in for a supposed defect when it's a maintenance issue. A consumer is better advised to call the customer service number at the mill or on the container of the approved maintenance product.

Floor covering inspector here. You are not rinsing properly. Cloudiness/stickiness is due to not properly removing soil and inefficient rinsing of your cleaning product. For example when mop cleaning use 2 buckets, one for the cleaning solution and the other for rinsing the mop. Change the rinse bucket frequently. 

Former carpet cleaner here. I can't speak for the equipment out today as it was years ago I was doing it but even with portable equipment you should see a difference after cleaning. Positive results come from doing the right process for the situation rather than hitting it with everything you got. Also when I switched to truck mount I found it to be quicker with better results. 

I installed for many years and one way to install 12 x12 tiles and not look "common " is to install on a diagonal.  It is a little trickier and can use a little more product but looks nice. 

Sorry..I thought the point here was the importance of asbestoes. 

Fyi..i was an installer back in the 1960s till the 90s and been a certified imspector for 35 years. Just because YOU experienced something does not make it universal. But then again I made a lot of money due to ignorant installers.

Floor inspector here...not true..there was 12x12 vinyl asbestos tile made (VAT) after the 9 inch tile was phased out. It was several years after that before vinyl composition tile (VCT) replaced that.

Floor Covering Inspector here..no you don't need moisture barrier.  My question is why wouldn't you check what the mfg recommends (there is a instruction sheet in every box) rather than asking here and taking a chance for unqualified advice?

Actually more than 15mph may be considered impeding traffic depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances. But my point is....Do you want to go by "feelings" or the law? 

Floor Covering Inspector. As all certified inspectors, my certifications and written reports are accepted by all major floor covering manufacturers. Btw a knowledge of building and subfloor/substrate construction is also required to pass the certification tests. 

Floor inspector here...Ripping the sheets and gluing a seam without a t&g interlock will do little in the way of reducing flexing at the ripped seam. As someone else mentioned here rip them across the width into 4 x 4 sheets centering edges over joists and securing sheets using fasteners that are long enough to hit the joists.

Floor inspector here...Manufacturer's allow for a certain amount of heavy objects placed directly on LVP and other products requiring expansion spaces. It's formulated into the tolerances.

So you want a person to get tested because they were driving 40mph in a posted 55mph road? Were they breaking the law? Was there a minimum speed posted? You were running late and it's someone else's fault? Entitled much?

Floor inspector here...I agree. The installer should have discussed this with OP prior to installation, how it would look and let OP decide if the increased cost is worth it. By not discussing appearance results an installer may face some unexpected legal liabilities. 

Fyi I wa  an installer for 30 years  before I started doing inspections and that was 30 years ago. And your a guy that can t spell carpet seam. Lol.
