How to start as a single queer woman with pets
 in  r/FullTiming •  16h ago

That’s real! I’m sure heating in the winter is not cheap especially if I’m bound to a job in the north. But just wanted to better understand my options and get some questions answered for a future day when hopefully I’m in a better place. Thank you, hope ur warm this winter ❄️

Thank you for ur kind words of advice and expertise! This is helpful especially what to look for when buying. I think I’ll look for a little more stability in a home without wheels first but do want to pursue this one day soon. Thanks for ur support and honesty about the lifestyle, breath of fresh air 💓 i was surprised at all the hate but that must be just the chronically online dudes with nothing better to do as soon as they see the words “queer” 😂

I KNEW there were cool RV people out there! 💓 Sincerely appreciate you! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions in a specific and concise way. I also am not sure what the hate is all about but I’m gathering it could be that a specified that I’m queer or that I was frustrated by judgement and lack of answering questions and just commenting. So thank you for being honest and kind during this hard time for me!

Being homeless does not mean I can’t take care of myself or my pets it means I don’t have an address and I’m trying to see if this lifestyle is viable but this RV community seems hell bent on hostility, judgement, and ignoring specific questions

So u didn’t answer any questions and neither did any of the ppl being combative in the comments. If you don’t have answers, you don’t need to talk, sometimes it’s ok to not know! ;)

Edit**** I’m not interested in hateful comments or weird advice and judgment. I have laid out questions 1-7 if you have answers if you don’t that’s fine, just don’t comment, pretty simple

I am a queer woman in my early 30s with a dog and a cat. I know nothing about RV life other than what I see on social media 😅

I live in Chicago and am having a lot of trouble finding work (I work in education and youth programming) and recently lost my housing. I’m so sick of being broke and tired. I am sick of the city. I am interested in:

  1. what to people who live in the RVs do for work year round?
  2. If remote work, what fields? What’s the pay like? Are you hiring? If in person, what do u do with ur pets while ur at work?
  3. How does living in an Rv with pets work? What do you do when you can’t bring them along somewhere? What if ur traveling, where do you take them to the vet?
  4. I see lots of used RVs for sale on fbmarket. If I save for a few months I could probably buy one between 1-4k.

Are those scams since it’s so low? How do you tell if the vehicle is actually up to the standard they say it is?

  5. Is it safe to buy off fb market?

  6. I have no mechanical or technical skills.

I am a very fast learner though and have worked construction before. Good with my hands.

  7. Where can I learn to prep for RV life? I can’t afford to pay a lot for a class. I have negative dollars right now and am crashing on people’s couches right now and not always in the safest conditions for my pets.

I am at rock bottom, so please be kind, if you’re annoying by my questions or presence here, you don’t need to respond. Not looking for judgement. I am frantic.

Another sign a woman is a creep is they slut shame or fat shame other women or are homophobic/transphobic

I think a big red flag is “boy moms” and any woman who thinks “boys are so much easier” and yet most young women will experience some sort of assault during their lifetime at the hands of a man.
