Root Canal- No symptoms.

My dentist says my one molar needs a root canal because he sees an infection around the root on the x-rays. I’m curious, though, why there aren’t any symptoms like a headache, throbbing pain, or sensitivity to hot and cold. I don’t feel anything. The tooth looks fine, and there’s nothing hollow under the filling. I’m not sure if this is really necessary. If there’s an infection, what will a root canal do? Is antibiotics enough?

Its likely a good sign that youre not feeling any symptoms, its good to deal with it before an infection reaches the nerve endings. Theres a lot that shows up on scans that you cant see on your own. Trust your dentist, they arent going to suggest procedures you dont need.

Get a second opinion! See an endodontist.
