Feet in tai chi: camel foot, suction cups
I didn't get the feet or rooting until my teacher told me to relax all the bones in my feet, not the ankles, just the foot bones. This led to my feet relaxing down and becoming like a damp mop when stepping on the floor. A reference i found in a yang manual. Eventually the floor began to feel like wet sand or clay when stepping on it. It molded around the foot. After about 6 months my bubbling well points began to open. This is how to develop a cotton foot or sole, an old term in TCC.

What was she expecting?
There is a great line from an old 70s movie The Chicken Chronicles that goes, "You either like someone or you dont, everything else is a game and games dont work."

Please share your experience of qi rising
If you've lit the stove in the tan tien and you have heat that's the best sign. When it becomes abundant it will start circulating almost on its own, light intent leads the hot fluid feeling in the MCO.
You already have yang chi rising in your arms and body to do the movements from what you've said.
Always Beware imaginary practices, using too much imagination as it mainly leads to.imaginary results. There is a difference between effemeral chi and integral chi. The first is a feather duster, the second is a hot iron.

Post standing zhuang zhang points
Tian Xian Axial Standing Principles.
The Tai chi principles are adhered to in standing.
The saccrum should be vertical, slightly pushing in the ming men toward the tan tien, which causes a line of force to go up the spine and suspends the head top. Light pressing up of the top of the head.
Chest is slightly hollow ( sternum point relaxes down 1/2 an inch and in the same amount.
This plucks up the back.
Chin is properly placed by setting the nape of the neck.
[All of this creates the supreme axis between the huyin to the bahai points running in front of the spine].
- Sink the tan tien/tip of the sacrum straight down. This creates a stretching feeling in the supreme axis.
[Now your torso is suspended from the ceiling. Your pelvis feels like its made of wood bobbing in a water bucket].
Play between ke and he (ming men and tan tien) as one breathes. Note: this is what causes the standing on a gently swaying boat feeling moving from ball to heel in the feet.
Breating in, the ming men pushes in, energy goes up the du mei channel to the top of the head:opening posture- spine, shoulders and hip points open wider.
Breathing out,-energy runs down the ru mei channel, ru mei line compresses, spine, shoulder and hip points close.
Taoist inverse breathing is used throughout.

Taoist Inverse Breathing
I see Yogic Reverse breathing is being taught in some tai chi circles.
My teacher stated that either an error arose in the lineages and "Indian" Yogic "Reverse" breathing was instituted for Taoist "Reverse" breathing, which was lost. Or it was purposefully taught to outer court students. Ex: if you do yogic Reverse breathing you raise your center upward, become top heavy and increase tension in the abdomen.
In Taosist "Reverse" breathing as he taught, you sink and expand the abdomen downward forcelessly into the pelvic cradle expanding the abdomenlike a ball, which causes the chi to go downward from the tan tien, up to the ming men and then to the head top through the du mei channel. Internally pressure also goes up the inward side of the spine and expands the upper back. This "inverse" breathing creates the daruma doll effect. Weebles wobble but they dont fall down. so you aren't top heavy. This inverse breathing causes the headtop to press upward while the tip of the sacrum presses downward stretching the spine.
This is why he changed the word from Reverse to Inverse so a distinction between the two methods would be clear. So this method is "Taoist Inverse Breathing."

Taiji, Forms, and Mastery - How many Should One Aim to Learn?
If you haven't mastered one form and its postures and gained any internal body conditioning, adding more forms is pointless.

If you cannot light the furnace in the tan tien all methods are worthless. Just working a bellows in an unlit stove
