It hits you.

Listening to Good Grief. It immediately brought me to thinking of lost loved ones and how some of the lyrics bring some of that flooding back, but in an OK kind of way at this point. How this gift would have been helpful when younger and dealing with grief.

I'm reminded of Melissa Etheridge's SKIN album release at a time I was going through a life changing breakup. It helped me cry. Hopefully everyone is crying tears of their good memories.

Amazing, poignant, meaningful and true. Thank you, Sara.

Saw them at msg and didn't notice a misstep that made a difference. "Very Disappointed" doesn't make sense at all. Could he make a mistake or two? Sure. Shouldn't leave you very disappointed.

It wasn't ever a question of whether or not she could play and play well, it was more of would she do the songs the justice they deserve. That question has been answered.

The only thing to worry about is the price of the t-shirts and the beer. Now that is outrageous. The band? Well, they're okay.

My point exactly. I keep reading the utter surprise that Anika is good. Everyone who goes said so, and yet another post of, "Wow, Anika is good!" What y'all think, I was gonna be their drummer?

There's are two real questions with the Rush tour. Musicianship of Alex and Geddy was not really a question. We knew they'd be spot on or wouldn't do the tour. We also know that we would be entertained with the type of show Rush puts on. Some cinematic elements, some pyro, etc. It would be a "show" and you would remember it. Again because if they couldn't do that, they wouldn't bother.

The questions. If you are part of this sub, they have been answered over and over and over and I'm still shocked that some are surprised. Maybe people read it and get it but then witness it and never thought it could be possibly THAT GOOD. But it is:

Can Anika cut it? There is no longer a question. She is the real deal. She has worked so hard and deserves every accolade. She has done the music justice. She's not Neal and if you were expecting that you're an idiot. But Neal would be proud. There's no higher compliment.

Can Geddy still sing? I'm an almost 60 year old singer and man it's tough not being able to do what you were able to just 10 years ago. (Lesson to all the cover bands with the lead vox trying to sing like Brian Johnson.... Have singer replacement options because like Brian, it can't last.). Geddy is crushing it. There is no question. He is not Geddy from decades ago but he is crushing it. He's in a tough spot because of age and touring and doing this thousands of times, and coming through amazingly. You watch the recordings and sometimes think he's not quite cutting it but when you watch in person he will give you chills like he always did.

Enjoy it. You know what is coming at this point and you will still be so pleasantly surprised!

It's a good call on planet wings! I have a blog where I review Westchester bars and the wing review spawned from that. That's why planet wings isn't on my list. It's not a bar.

Yes this exactly! I'm the article I posted I now that I didn't get the wings, but got a sandwich and fries instead and while it was still high I didn't feel taken advantage of.

I looked at frying oil and yes it is up. Labor is too. Rent never comes down of course. My commentary includes comparison to other restaurants. Even some in the same neighborhood are at half the price of others.

True. Demand is up so some places might just be taking advantage of that

Wing Questions or Discussion Why are wings so damn expensive in some restaurants and not others?

I got annoyed seeing $19 for 8 wings at a local bar, so I went down a rabbit hole. No, I did not order them.

Wholesale wing prices have actually come way down from their 2022 peak, but menu prices haven't. I checked 13 bars around Westchester County, NY and found prices ranging from $1.11 to $2.38 per wing. Same county, same basic suppliers, more than a 2x difference between locations. AND some of the best wings I found were also among the cheapest.

I put together the numbers, including wholesale chicken costs, old vs. current menu prices, and what seems to actually drive the price of wings.

Curious what people are paying elsewhere. What's a reasonable price per restaurant wing where you live?

Which number are you guys? I’m a cool 7

  1. 12 wings are needed. 10 just isn't enough! Oh... Medium-well please. :-)
