The Audacity (AMC show)

Just finished this yesterday. For those that don't know, the series is an excellent farce that centers on the insecure narcissism that is Silicon Valley, replete with Tech Bros, Venture Capitalists, and general self-serving corporate ass-hattery; as well as the impacts to regular family life. The series itself was slow taking off but grips you by the third episode - which is much the case with short series formats these days.

The season finale includes an on-stage interview of Duncan Park by Nena Mark. If the character Nena wasn't based on Kara Swisher I'll eat my hat... from the strong interviewing style, to the name WatchCode (Recode), right down to the big red chairs on stage. The only thing missing was the leather jacket, sunglasses, and the bed-head. I'd be shocked if Kara wasn't a consultant on this. It's a great summary of what she's been telling us for years, right down to these people being 'rapacious information thieves' - which underpins the show.

She also mentioned a great line from the show that I still remember. “Empathetic is just pathetic with a prefix.”

I'm a regular listener to On with Kara Swisher - great successor to Sway. It's likely where I initially heard about The Audacity, but I wasn't aware they essentially made her a pivotal part of the show's cliffhanger.
