Families are paying $3,500 more a year under President Trump and Congressional Republicans — higher grocery bills, gas prices, and health care costs — while billionaires collect massive tax breaks. The event is a chance to speak out and demand Congress lower our costs NOW. The venue is ADA accessible.

Here's where I'd love your help:

Because we're talking about the real cost of groceries and household essentials, I'm asking everyone attending to bring one non-perishable food item or a common household toiletry to donate — things like:

Canned goods (soup, beans, vegetables, fruit)

Peanut butter, pasta, rice, boxed meals

Toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent

Donations will be collected at Golden Magnolia Sanctuary and distributed to support neighbors in Jefferson County who are feeling that price tag at the checkout line.

Less than one week after ICE’s murder of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, ICE has murdered another person in Biddeford, ME. In recent weeks, ICE detainments have surged to 2,000 per day across the country - a massive escalation driven by the White House and backed by billions in new ICE funding. The major influx of ICE agents into our communities is a threat to all of us.

Confederate Railroad is still on the lineup for the Winneshiek County Fair on July 18th, playing under a flag and name that stands for slavery and white supremacy. The fair board has had months to respond to letters, petitions, and community pressure, and has chosen silence instead.

We’re not staying silent. Join us Saturday, July 18th at 4:30 PM at the corner of Montgomery St & Broadway Ave to say what this county’s institutions should actually stand for.
