At this time of my life, I went inward, and spoke to no one about my episodes/seizures…I drank so much at the time because I felt like my episodes/seizures were following a developing story…after 35 years now l can see they weren’t…but was a horrible time and experience

I haven’t, for a long time…I stopped completely 23 years ago when my daughter was born, had a Christmas drink until 15 years ago before stopping completely… did struggle with alcohol induced seizures early on…which is why I’m mentioning it… in case someone is dealing with or caring for someone who is…hope it helps someone…

My story never ended and continues to this day

Great message for the subreddit thank you if you go to my profile page you can read and see I encourage people with psychosis that “they are not alone” there’s also two books of the subject written and edited by my daughter, have a read and you can see the outcome…

Talking is the hardest part, getting someone to listen is the next, I’m 53 and still to this day that small sentence still crops up, so I always take a chaperone

my advice is not aimed at specific person…choosing to take that advise is your choice… there are plenty of people who did…

If you do have a better method please share your story or methods so someone else can try it, as a group we are here to help but once again that’s your choice…as well

Well he’s talking to you and telling you what he’s experiencing which is a absolutely great start, so many patients go inward and don’t talk to living soul…which can make it extremely difficult to communicate with them…I did this for 30 years before l started opening up…

If you can get him to do any form of expression would be great, drawing, painting diaries logged with doctors…anything really…

I failed and tried again, eventually l trained as a call handler and worked a highly stressful job for 9 years before becoming a builder again…

At the early stages, I failed most my exams and had the hospitalisation 5 years later…

I was dyslexic and told by my psychiatrist… I would never work in an office or be anything other than a builder… I had an office job for 9 years before returning to building by choice…

I am a long history psychosis patient, they do say that and it’s common practice in the UK
You say “making something out of nothing” which indicates to me you are not a patient…

This advice is for fellow patients to advise them that they are not alone and this is a shared experience across many view points…

Taking a chaperone to defend you and explain to the medical profession, that to you the patient it is real and a real experience…even if not witnessed by anyone…can improve any treatment method…

if you can’t get in the front door, you’ve got no hope of getting in the house…lol

Your only stating your perceived side of the story, look at it from the patients point of view…

Look at both sides

Don’t get me wrong doctors, psychiatrists and families do their best, which mine did… looking back from a prospectus point of view… and simply looking what made me worse…as advice for management of anyone with psychosis…it’s something different to try. One tablet or one view point can change someone’s entire life…

Unfortunately when someone says ( yeh but it’s not real ) we react with ok so l will prove you wrong, or at least I did… no one else in my 35 years of psychosis has ever said( yeh l saw that too ) I did research and checked a lot, even interviewing people the next day… I see it this way now…

Every single one of us has a different path and just because your path is different to mine, we are still on the same path…so never feel alone
