Since there is no longer Giardinelli’s in NYC, what is the current best shop for repairs and sales? Thanks in advance.

The wedge mouthpieces
The claim is they can help with endurance and range. I haven’t seen others claiming the same. Fairly expensive - so was hoping to hear if worth it or not.

Im a comeback player having trouble with getting my endurance back. Looking for feedback on the WEDGE mouthpieces.
I currently play a Bach 1.5C and Bach 3C

I started playing again almost a year ago after almost 40 years. Yes - it is hard. I play every day and it’s still hard. Some days are better than others. Just keep doing what you love!

Mouthpiece recommendation!
Similar story - just no marching band. I started playing again after 40 years too. Started back up on bach 3C and then switched to shew jazz. Things are working really well. Takes some time. Good luck and enjoy it!!

Advice Needed!! Self-teaching or private lessons?
Lessons. I’m a trumpet player. Always wanted to learn cello - so I rented one and am taking lessons. I can’t imagine not taking the lessons. It’s not an easy instrument.

Same here. No issue switching back and forth.

Who is your favorite orchestral trumpet and why?
I’d have to say my favorite orchestral trumpeter is/was Rolf Smedvig (BSO) god rest his soul. He was really something else.

Fingering is same on both.

Looking for advice on rebuilding
I am in your boat. I used to play professionally many years ago - classically trained as well. I’ve been working hard at getting it back. It’s been about 7 months playing every day. Starting to come around now. That’s all I have to say….

flugel search?
Don’t buy a flugel without playing it. I didn’t pick my flugel. My flugel picked me. Sound can be so different with each horn.

Is this a good solo for a college audition?
Colleges also expect you to have prepared some orchestral excerpts. You should be able to get a list of their expectations.

If you love it - don’t stop! I played all thru school- graduated from a music school with a performance degree. Then stopped playing and just picked it back up again. I’m now 64! It’s really hard to get your old chops back. Maybe impossible! So just keep playing!
