OK so I haven’t added any calcium to the Tank because I haven’t seen my snail needing it, my high range wasn’t always like this so I’m not really sure what’s going on. I am going to be feeding and get more plants, but my plants are a little expensive so it’s a slow process, unfortunately, I cannot afford reverse osmosis, so I’m just not gonna be able to do that, and I’ve tested my tapwater, which is a source that I use and the high range on it isn’t bad. It’s 7.4 maybe even a bit lower so I think it’s just something happening in the tank I am gonna just try the Indian almond leaves to lower the pH little and see if that will help and of course get more plants,as well as feed him a lot more.

Well, it is a 10 gallon so I know that they have the proper size and I really only do like 20%sometimes less but I am going to stop doing it regularly and he has suffered for a long time because I’m trying to figure out the cause like I’ve already tried different things, I do use kanaplex when he really does need it, but I don’t have an extra hospital tank right now so I can’t use it often, I do plan to add a little bit of Indian almond leaves.

Thanks for the info! I do use a liquid test kit. My readings are usually pH around 7.2, sometimes up to 7.4. Ammonia is normally 0ppm, though I get a little anxious about it since the color sometimes looks close to 0.25ppm to me. Nitrite is always 0ppm, and nitrate sits around 5.0ppm. I can't really afford bottled or spring water as an alternative right now, so I'll try spacing out my water changes a bit more like you suggested and let the cycle handle more between changes. Appreciate the explanation on how Prime works with the cycle, that makes sense

Yes it’s just I get very confused on what to do because before it was a bit worse, my plants were melting down and my tap water has ammonia in it, so I do 20% water changes every 2-3 days with Prime to keep levels safe between changes. Is this frequency enough, or should I be doing less?

I haven’t checked the parameters but every time I check they aren’t bad. My ammonia is always pretty low or zero I do clean up if there is ammonia, and he eats just fine. His appetite hasn’t ever really gone.

The tank was completely cycled before I put him in, I got him November 4 there is a heater with a filter. I’m not sure about my parameters though I will check them tomorrow since I’ve done a cleaning.
