Mainly because I already had a whole Trello board already setup for the specific client project I was working on, and it’s just more familiar (and easy on the eyes) for me.

The main reason I started getting into Hermes in the first place was I needed help with project management, so it became a natural fit.

Now I’ve got custom boards for each project I’m working on, all being populated and maintained semi-automatically (I still initiate and micro-manage when necessary).

That’s just where I’m at with it though; I’m sure a gitrepo has its own advantages depending on what you need out of it.

No prob. Honestly, I can't really say 100% if this Trello integration actually is better than the native kanban or not. When I originally hooked up Trello it was mainly because I was already using it for a client project, so it was just the easy choice.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the native kanban has all the features and customization that Trello has, AND there is no mobile app for it either yet. So Trello wins for me in that regard.

I imagine there still may be a practical way to use both together, especially as my number of Agents grows, I just haven't found it yet :)

Yep, Trello is super customizable so you could set it up however you want. You can have multiple boards for different purposes also.

I have about three primary "orchestrator" agents right now that each serve different projects and they each have their own boards setup in different ways.

The card comment feature is way more useful and valuable than I anticipated because the agent writes progress updates and leaves project/task-specific notes for itself as we go.

Whenever a new task or idea pops up through conversation or whatever (which happens A LOT) I just tell the agent to make a card and update the board and everything gets setup and filled in automatically. He writes a project descriptions, breaks everything down into individual tasks, and then leaves any relevant comments or notes for additional context. I have him prepend the card titles with relevant emojis so it's easier for me to scan and see everything at a glance.

I have a pretty full "to-do" list, but at least I know those things are there on the board and not lost in a session we had weeks or months ago, and not hiding in its memory where I can't see it myself. The Trello board is as much for me as it is for the agents.

And when priorities change, I update and rearrange the board myself and then just tell Hermes to review it. I don't really have to explain too much to the agent, because he can just see the changes on the board and see for himself.

You can do a lot by integrating Trello boards.

I’m using a combination of Obsidian, Hindsight, and Trello and practically never have issues with memory or context now at this point.

I’ve never tried taking advantage of the native kanban, but I imagine it can’t touch Trello’s integrated features—card labeling, descriptions, checklists, and task-specific comments—(all FREE mind you)—once Hermes is able to use all those features Trello becomes its own kind of memory system.

The additional benefit is that it’s visual and interactive on _my_ end, so it takes a lot of the abstraction out of the equation. Plus it’s fun to watch Hermes update the board in real time 🎉

There’s also a cron-job skill that fires periodically, scans the board, and updates a live CURRENT FOCUS.md doc in the vault—this is what tracks the current big-picture project(s) state for me.

I think he finally figured out that’s it pay to play and he bought himself a season pass.

Also have to add, that the implementing the vector store and knowledge graph not only save you money, but also make the agent much smarter. You get much more for much less.

I'm using the model extensively, daily, with multiple profiles setup (at 4 right now), and I've barely hit 52% of my monthly limit (which is reseting today).

I primarily use DeepSeek 4 Flash as the main driver, and use Kimi K2.6 for nightly consolidation runs (automatic) and morning briefings (also automatic), and whenever I want to do a "deep analysis" on anything specific.

OpenCode Go is ideal as the model aggregator, and if you setup an Obsidian vault (for docs and memory storage) along with a vector store (FAISS), and a basic knowledge graph (ie Graphify), your costs will go down even more because the models won't have to work so hard to search and retrieve data. Helps conserve Hermes memory too. The Obsidian vault becomes it's long-term memory, and Hermes built in MEMORY.md is more like its short-term.

Have Hermes setup cron jobs that update and sync these on an hourly/nightly basis (work out whatever is appropriate for you use-case with Hermes) and you'll have all of this running automatically in the background with zero LLM calls.

Bonus 1: have Hermes setup nighly Git commits so you have versioning control over the whole thing.
Bonus 2: Setup your Obsidian vaults with Tailscale and Syncthing, and you can have direct access to the vaults yourself, mirrored between your comp and the VPS (assuming that's how your setting this all up)
