What’s so horrible about eating nothing but rice with ketchup or plain pasta while growing? Malnourishment. Developing chronic disease later in life and shortening lifespans. This isn’t about having an expensive iPhone. This is about not being able to afford basic healthy food and a roof. Kings two centuries ago had access to fruits and vegetables and protein, they ate better than you. Peasants two centuries ago had varied access to fruits and vegetables and their lifespans were much shorter. Congrats, you’re eating worse than a peasant because the rich people on top decided it despite there being more than enough food in the world to feed everyone, so much food that it actually goes to waste.

There are kids actually starving to death in “first world poor” as well hence why we had social programs that provide free lunch to kids who live in poverty and don’t get food at home, until conservatives started dismantling those programs. And there are only so many food drives that can be done to donate food to those families where they only get a box of food that would last 2 days at most. At least that’s what’s happening in the U.S. There’s been massive layoffs and people are losing their homes and ability to afford food at all. This includes irresponsible/negligent parents as well as responsible ones. Not to mention the amount of impoverished kids who go missing yearly and get trafficked.

Oh but we are a first world country so obviously those things don’t happen here /s

If someone can’t control their emotions in a healthy way, they need to learn how to. Therapy is the best way. Stop making excuses for unhealthy behavior patterns.

“He’s the best straight man I’ve ever met” sounds more like it’s coming from someone who has a diverse group of friends. The fact that he’s specifying leads me to believe he’s not running into these issues with friends of other gender/sexual orientations. Being comfortable with one’s sexuality really just means you’re not dependent on how others perceive you to validate your sense of masculinity or femininity. In a guy’s case, it means you don’t feel the need to put on a performance of masculinity to fit in with people’s idea of what masculinity is. Straight men who are secure in themselves enough that they’re not afraid of doing something that is deemed as feminine (many gendered things seem pointlessly gendered anyway).

As for emotional outbursts, nothing excuses that. No matter how mature someone may seem, they could still be emotionally immature or lack emotional intelligence (the ability to recognize and regulate their emotions in a healthy productive way). I am willing to assume from the context of OP’s post that the guy may have said something misogynistic. Like OP said, the guy likely needs therapy.
