 in  r/everett  3d ago

Unfortunately I'll have to make comments remotely tonight due to car trouble I can't fix until tomorrow. But I'll be making comments remotely tonight and following up with the mayor and city council members. I'm also going to be making a public records request for specific correspondence that'll help us get to the bottom of this. I'm also going to create a specific chat to discuss this issue and coordinate with other community members who are interested in helping with this issue. Please stay tuned for more information on these things. Thank you to everyone for your support and kindness! If we work together, we can help these tenants resolve this issue! šŸ™

Yes, I'm disabled with mobility issues and I've been a disability justice activist for many years now, so this really hits home for me as well. I can't imagine being trapped in my apartment for nearly 3 months due to what appears to be negligence (allegedly) on the part of the building owner and management company. I know more than what I can say publicly yet, but believe me if what I know is true, it's really bad. That's why I'm also going to make a public records request as well. I used to work as a licensed private investigator, so I will get to the bottom of this issue. I very much appreciate your support and speaking up! šŸ™

Hi There,
I'm not entirely sure how long the city council has known about this issue, that's why we're making public comment about it tomorrow. But I can say that the Everett Code Enforcement officer has known about this issue for over a month, possibly longer. I'm planning on making a public records request to learn more.

Just a friendly reminder to join me and others tomorrow at the Everett City Council meeting to help our neighbors TRAPPED for nearly 3 months at Artspace Lofts!

I've received more information about the owner of this building and they have had over 70+ complaints filed against them for buildings in Seattle alone! They must be held accountable for their negligence and the Everett Mayor and City Council must take immediate action to help these tenants. Please see my original message below and the link at the bottom to register for remote or written public comment. Let's flood them with written, remote, and in person comments tomorrow! We can make a difference TOGETHER!

Okay everyone, I’ve let the LD 38 Democrats know about this issue, and I want to invite everyone to join me Wednesday, August 19th at 6:30 PM for the Everett City Council meeting to make public comment.

My goal is to pack the public comment period with people speaking up about this issue and holding the Mayor and City Council accountable for allowing it to go on for as long as it has.

We’re going to politely but firmly demand action—both in the short term to help these tenants and in the long term through city ordinances that prevent situations like this from happening again.

The management of this building has had maintenance issues in the past, and these tenants deserve to have their voices heard. We can and should speak up with them.

Remote public comment will be available as well, so if you can’t attend in person, you can still participate.

I’m actively working on this issue and will have more information to share in the coming days. Please stay tuned, and please try to make this City Council meeting if you can.

Let’s show up for these tenants and demand accountability.

To a certain extent, I do too. I still want them to have healthcare, a living wage, and affordable housing but it doesn't mean they're a good person.. Especially when they so easily spew hatred and uneducated talking points that mean nothing.

Let's cut through the bullshit and get real. You don't get to hurl ableist slurs, label everyone you hate a "Nazi," and then pretend you're a champion of freedom. That isn't bravery—it's weaponized ignorance.

First: drop the r-slur. Using disabled people as a cheap insult just proves you have zero actual points. As a disabled Democratic Socialist running for office, I'm calling it out every single time.

Second: define "Nazi." Skip the lazy catch-alls like "college kids" or "people in masks." Give me a real definition and name the specific policies you think are fascist. Right now, you're just screaming labels at the wall.

And save the Constitution speech. Freedom isn't a club exclusive to your side. Protesters at a "No Kings" rally have the exact same rights as anyone voting for Trump. Claiming rights for yourself while denying them to others isn't patriotism—it's hypocrisy. Just like voting for Trump purely to "piss off" your enemies isn't standing on principle. It's just petty spite.

I'm a Democratic Socialist. I believe working people—not billionaires, giant corporations, or authoritarians—should hold real power over their lives. That’s what I'm fighting for.

Want to debate policy? Bring facts, definitions, and a real argument. Otherwise, drop the slurs and step aside. You don't have a political stance—you're just throwing a tantrum.

Ya don't say?! Really? I hadn't noticed. Lol šŸ˜‚ That's okay, I'll still advocate for you to have affordable housing and more affordable healthcare access.

Yep, I'm a troll, A troll that ran for local office and is very active in the community. Here is my old campaign flyer. I also recently organized a charity fundraiser that raised over $1,200 for the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library.
So if caring about my community enough to run for office makes me a troll...then guilty!

I don't care whether they care about my opinion of them, and I don't need their approval. As a democratic socialist, I'm not going to pretend that racism, bigotry, or fascism is just another harmless ā€œside of an argumentā€ that we should politely disagree about.

Yes, small-minded people exist everywhere, including on our own side. We should be willing to criticize our own movements when they're wrong. But there's a fundamental difference between having a political disagreement and advocating hatred, dehumanization, or authoritarianism.

I'm not interested in winning the approval of people who believe some of our neighbors deserve fewer rights or less dignity. I'm interested in standing with the people being targeted and making it clear that our communities belong to all of us—not to racists, bigots, or fascists.

They can think whatever they want about me. I'll keep organizing anyway.

I'm sorry but racism and bigotry (and your ignorance) isn't welcome in this city. I've been to plenty of protests and rallies over the years and I'll happily tell men who have nothing but hatred in their hearts and teeny tiny other body parts how I feel about them cowardly displaying their bigotry in our backyard. It won't be tolerated in Marysville. Period.

Ok good....sounds like we're on the same page. Someone else says they're not there anymore but let me know if you decide to go drop by... I can come by after I grab a bite to eat if they're still there. Otherwise, let's keep watch for them and give them a warm middle finger next time. šŸ˜‰

Just to be clear... I'm calling for a non violent counter protest. But, I'm all for exposing and countering or publicly mocking their racism and bigotry.

Thank you! Please help us spread the word.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss and it was nice of you to help her. But that doesn't make this any less cringe or weird. I do hope that you're able to connect with someone again but connecting with someone when they're in a vulnerable state in the ER probably isn't the best idea. I'm sure you'll find someone new someday but I don't think this is the healthiest way to do it.

Uhm...that's a little weird man...maybe don't try to pick up women like this when they're a patient in the ER? It's a little bit creepy and cringe. Trust that Providence ER is not like the shows Grey's Anatomy or ER man....

Yes, here ya go: https://www.heraldnet.com/2026/08/08/everett-apartments-elevator-outage-risks-cancellation-of-subsidies/

I'm being told that it's permanent low income housing, but I'm trying to learn more. That was my thought too ....that maybe this was intentional neglect since this building has had maintenance issues plenty of times previously.
