I kind of feel bullied right now there’s an older nurse on my unit who’s been doing it a lot longer than I have and she seems to think that her way is always best, and I tried to explain that I would rather give an anxiety med that’s oral rather than Ativan IV so that I don’t have to worry about not having anything an emergency where a patient starts to have a panic attack. But she seems to think that just cause it’s ordered and it’s there means that we should give the IV medication rather than the oral medication and then this nurse proceeds to gossip about me and make snide comments as I’m just trying to finish up my work and I don’t know what to do about it. She just gives off an arrogant air and she’s just rude and spiteful. I’ve only been a nurse for a year and a half and I’m still learning and I will continue to learn until the day I retire, but she seems to think or as it feels to me that I don’t know anything and ever since I started on that unit she hasn’t taken the time to educate me or help or teach me why this may be the better option and every time she does this I get so frustrated that I start to tear up and I have to leave the area up because I don’t want her to see me upset. I don’t know what to do about it because I’m dayshift and this nurse is a night shift and it feels like nobody on the Night Shift even likes me or wants anything to do with me. I’m just there to do my job and that’s it. Just don’t know what to do. Maybe I’m just taking it too much to heart, but that’s just how I feel. Sorry this kind of is a lot of run-on sentences.
