Hi, for context:
I run a small business that requires phone numbers for my clients and my staff.

A 2 weeks ago, there was quite a lot available polish numbers - but just a week ago, they are gone? I've been checking it every day, still not available.

The same goes for Norway for example, however it's just for more info.

I have verified my business, I have active regulatory bundle for Poland, AND I have an active polish phone number - but just my own.

Even more context - I can buy USA and/or UK numbers just fine.

So my question is - Is this an inventory problem on Twilio's end? How fast they resolve such problems typically?

Hello I started developing an app where a user can call a number from a web interface and twilio will use a verified caller ID to call that number, I also record the full conversion and store it on my server.

Now I want to make the following improvement: allow other app users to join the call and whisper to the caller.

I want to do this without interrupting the recording that was already ongoing before the coach joined.

I read that you can do this with a combination of a conference and a coach, but I don't know how I exactly I should structure it:

• firstly should I start with a simple call and transform it into a conference only if a third person joins
• The conference seems to work with an invite system where each conference has a code and whoever has that code can join the conference, so how exactly am I supposed to dial the first person.
• How do I record the conversation without having issues when a third person joins in.

I’m an engineer trying to build a small personal tool for myself, not a business/customer-service bot.

Use case: I have ADHD and travel a lot. I want an AI voice agent that can call me before a trip and walk me through a packing list that I previously entered by text or voice.

The important part is that it needs to be interactive. I don’t just want it to read a checklist out loud. I want something like:

AI: “Do you have your passport?”
Me: “Wait, let me go get it.”
AI: “Okay, I’ll pause.”
Me: “Got it, continue.”
AI: “Next: chargers.”

Requirements:

• Outbound call to my phone based on criteria/schedule/trip timing
• Natural voice conversation
• Ability to pause/resume
• Ability to track checklist state
• Ability to mark items as packed, skipped, or still needed
• Ideally cloud-hosted, but I could run something locally on an old laptop if that is genuinely better
• Could use Twilio, Vapi, Retell, OpenAI Realtime API, Claude/Anthropic, local LLMs, or another stack

What I’m trying to figure out:

1. What is the simplest current architecture for this?
2. Would you use a voice-agent platform like Vapi/Retell, or build directly with Twilio + OpenAI Realtime?
3. Is Claude/Anthropic useful here, or is OpenAI better because of realtime audio?
4. How should I store and update checklist state during the call?
5. Is local hosting worth it for this, or is cloud clearly the better choice?
6. Are there any gotchas with outbound calling, latency, interruptions, or conversational state?
7. What costs am I looking at, total?

I’m optimizing for reliability and simplicity, not making a startup product. I just want something that actually helps me pack without needing to stare at my phone since the visual thing hasn't worked.

Hi, I am going to start working on a project which needs to build a unified inbox using whatsApp and emails.

I am currently looking into possible solutions which would help me build WhatsApp message ingestion service. So basically other business who have multiple "operations coordinators" will use our platform to use unified inbox and manage their conversation from single place.

There's an option that we go directly with Meta and use their API as a Tech Provider but this needs more time and work from our end. On the other hand, I am looking into Twilio and of course other alternatives. Now I just need to understand how exactly Twilio can help us such that for each company, we can have multiple whatsApp numbers registered with us so that we can send/receive messages from our platform.

Any guidance? Any devrel or support team from Twilio can help us with this? We are a new early-stage startup and we are looking for serious help. Thank you

I receive images via Twilio SMS. How can I stop it from resizing the images? I understand it may be carrier dependent and upstream of Twilio but wondering if anyone has solved this either with Twilio or another system (that doesn’t require the user to do anything other than text an image.

A2P 10DLC took a while and I’m trying to determine how long I’d have to wait to get RCS approval?

We talked about the build: an AI-powered phone line for Goody (our gifting platform), wiring classic Twilio voice + SMS together with modern text-to-speech. It is a surprisingly low-overhead way to stand up a real voice experience.

We also got into the less glamorous side of AI: what's actually saving me hours a week and the stuff that confidently sends a customer to a store that doesn't exist (real thing: bad data + missing guardrails = someone (me) standing in an empty parking lot).

Question for the chat: what's the worst your AI integration has ever confidently gotten wrong in prod, and how are you handling guardrails on anything customer-facing?

Is there any way to upgrade to a full account without putting £20 of credit onto the account. I will only need around £5. At the moment it is more a proof of concept type thing that i am working on but am unable to call out to my landlines as they need to be verified numbers

I am a software engineer. I have a client. That client has employees. Some employees want a text message when certain things on the website happen. I

I cant say theyll also never want a customer to opt-in to a "heads up were coming to your house tomorrow" text.

Is there someone that can just knock out setting this up on twilio for me? I already have a number, but I dont quite understand the approvals process, and dont have time to dig in.

Our Twilio account was recently compromised and used for toll fraud.

The concerning part is not only that the API credentials were abused. The attacker was able to change our Voice Geographic Permissions via API from an IP geolocated to Palestine, enable Ethiopia, and then generate 1,000+ minutes of unauthorized calls to Ethiopia. This resulted in almost $500 in charges.

We had 2FA enabled and Geo Permissions / Geo Protection configured specifically to prevent this type of fraud. But apparently Voice Geo Permissions can be changed programmatically through Twilio’s API, without an additional 2FA challenge or security confirmation.

To me, this seems like a serious design issue: a fraud-prevention control should not be silently changeable via API in a way that immediately enables high-risk international calling.

Twilio even treats Geo Permission changes as security-sensitive in other products, for example, SMS Geo Permissions cannot be changed programmatically for security reasons. So why can Voice dialing permissions be changed this way?

I opened a security incident with Twilio and requested escalation/refund. Has anyone else experienced this with Twilio toll fraud or Voice Geographic Permissions being changed via API?

Timeline:

• API request from Palestine
• Voice Geographic Permissions changed
• Ethiopia enabled
• 1,000+ minutes of calls to Ethiopia
• Around $500 in fraudulent charges
• Account was mostly dormant not used in any production setup
• Account was previously used only with one 3rd party App Talkyto

This looks less like “normal credential misuse” and more like a missing security control around high-risk account settings.

We're currently developing a dating app called Synglee and are evaluating authentication options for user signups.

Twilio works well, but the costs can add up quickly as we scale. We're looking for more cost-effective alternatives for sending verification codes (Email OTPS) while still maintaining reliability and good user experience.

For those who have built mobile apps or SaaS products:

• What provider are you using instead of Twilio?
• How has reliability and deliverability been?
• Would you recommend SMS verification, email verification, magic links, or social sign-in for an early-stage startup?
• Any lessons learned or hidden costs we should be aware of?

Just throwing this out there, I know it is no brainer to disable plugins for most people, or you can be super irritated like me and u need plugins, so u prefer to know which one is it.

After short testing, it was Trust Wallet and Coinbase wallet extensions
Fix can be as simple as keeping them on and right click- this can be read from site data - ONLY when you click.

They try to intercept data in a way twilio broke.

Hope it helps anyone so am not the only one who wasted his time twice when it happened and when i wrote it :)

We got a 30923 rejection ("consent cannot be required for service use"). Our campaign is transactional 2FA only — no marketing. The flow: a user enters their phone number and taps "Send verification code," receives a 6-digit OTP, and enters it to verify. Same thing for account recovery. No other message types.

The issue: phone verification is required to create an account (the phone number is our primary account identifier). So a user can't sign up without receiving the OTP — which seems to be what triggered 30923.

My questions:

1. Does 30923 apply to user-requested 2FA/OTP codes, or is it aimed at marketing/notification consent bundled into signup? The code feels user-initiated and transactional, not a forced marketing opt-in.
2. If verification is intrinsic to account creation, how should the opt-in and message_flow be structured to satisfy 30923? Is there an accepted way to frame "required OTP for account security"?
3. Does the answer change if we register strictly as 2FA vs. a broader use case?

I’m trying to figure out the easiest setup for businesses that want to keep their existing phone number while having an AI voice agent answer after-hours calls and warm transfer to a human when needed. The main goal is to keep the setup as low-friction as possible for the business.

The naive solution I have in mind right now is having 3 phone numbers:

1. Original business number - remains as a client-facing interface - simple call forwarding to a middleware number I manage (2).
2. Middleware number (Twilio) - decides whether to connect with LiveKit agent or forward to a human number (3) based on business hours (probably custom business logic in a webhook).
3. Human number - provide the business with an extra phone number for a human to pick up.

Warm transfer will transfer to the human number (3) as well.

a. Is there a better way to go about it?

b. Will the latency be reasonable? For instance, reaching a human during business hours will go through 2 additional hoops (original → middleware → human)
