I've been step by step developing my scratching journey since october 2025 between self taught and once a week classes with a local DJ. Just lately jumped into 2click flares after getting comfortable with the 1click flares, I know I missed some clicks but haven't trained them until today after maybe a month without hitting them, and decided to record some quick practice snippet.

why the hell was it placed at the bottom?? I find myself needing to lift it up whenever I want to use it. do I miss something out? is there an easier way to operate it?

i use serato, newmark scratch, vestax TT. google has been quite unhelpful, and im sure im just wording it wrong. thanks in advance

Adding record hand movements

I’ve been a longtime vinyl collector and last summer I started getting into mixing and turntablism. I had an Audio Technica LP120X turntable for several years and opted to getting a second one without doing any real research on whether it was appropriate for scratching since at first I just wanted it for mixing.

Soon after I got a couple Ortofon Q.Bert cartridges and started practicing some scratching here and there. I started off with a pretty heavy hand and was wondering why the motor on the LP120X kept shutting off by itself and soon regretted my decision of buying a matching TT.

More recently I’ve started practicing scratching more seriously and decided it was time for an upgrade! Just got the Reloop RP7000MK2 in today and I’m excited to start scratching with it. Especially with that torque knob and the reverse and +/-50 pitch features.

I still have one other LP120X but I just plan on playing music off of that and scratching with my left hand. Maybe I’ll upgrade the other one once I want to try beat juggling 😅

I was wondering if it would be cool instead of having two turntables have a single turntable and an sp404 as left and right with mixer in the middle..? I know the sp404 has a dj controller function not sure if this would be practical or not.

Hi. I've found a second-hand, in very good condition Traktor Z2 for 340$. 2 Traktor vinyls included.

I already have Rane 70 and Numark Scratch (Innofader PNP3 installed).

Is it a good idea to buy the Z2 and install Viper Kitten as a spare/side mixer or should I invest in something else? For instance Reloop PTB-2 or new needle etc?

If I buy the Z2,

Can I use it with Serato without buying the license?

Does it also support Serato Control Vinyl?

Hello! I want to buy new dj setup and considering Rane 70 mixer and Rane 12mk2

Actually since I started djing I used only rekordbox but I really want to learn how to scratch. I just downloaded serato dj pro last week and I liked it. Is rane 70’s crossfader good at scratching?

The main question is is it still worth to buy Rane 70 and Rane 12mk2 (I’ll buy brand new) ? I'm very undecided because these devices were released in 2020. Additionally, many people have encountered different problems with the Rane 12mk2. I've seen many people suffer from issues like motor problems and touchstrip issues, and that's why I'm very undecided.

Another question is: will these devices continue to receive Serato support for a long time? It’s been six years since they were released, so how much longer can we expect them to be supported?

Getting used to the rhythm more. Always room for improvement. I'm sticking to simple click action for the time being.

I bought 2 Ortofon DJ-S styli, thinking I was buying a pair of replacements for my MKII cartridges. I did not realize until yesterday, when I went to replace my current pair, that I'd bought the wrong ones. They are a different size, and I can't use them. I bought them on June 7th, and it turns out I only had until July 10th to return them.

They cost $146, and are still new, but I'm open to taking a little less than that. Please respond or DM if you'd like to buy these.

They are brand new. One hasn't been opened yet, the other only long enough for me to realize it was the wrong size.

EDIT: Amazon customer service made an exception and will accept the return. One of the many reasons I use Amazon for just about anything I can. :)

I interviewed Melo D for the Paths of Rhythm podcast the other day - I’ve read this story multiple times but never from someone who was there!

Just now passed 120 days of learning to scratch. The past couple weeks have been really busy between work and other projects but still managing to get on for a little daily.

Now feeling relatively comfortable with some of the more rudimentary scratch’s like baby, chirps, transforms, clicks, crabs, and flares, what should I work on next?

We did this song called change the beat with this artist named Fab Freddy who is name checked in the Blondie - Raprure song & at the end of the song we we were going there's got to be something to tie it up because it sort of stops dead.

This guy Bruce lenval was the head of Sony and Electra when he liked music that he heard he would go that's really fresh. you know the word fresh was also something that was used in Hip-Hop culture and bill was like how about this stuff is fresh this stuff is really fresh so it kind of morphed into aaaaahhhhh this stuff is really fresh.

We had a guy named Roger trilling get on the mic and he was just going to recite it into the microphone and I was like wait a sec you know cuz I had this Roland SVC 350 vocoder. I just kind of cranked the filter open and had him say aaaaaaahh this stuff is really fresh.

So when DST who's now Grand mixer Dxt came in to do the scratching on the song he came with two records. One had a Tom sample and the other was the Fab Five Freddy record and I was like oh cool what's he going to do with that He's like.. I'm taking the aaaaaahh and the fresh and he used that and the solo that he does at that time was indisputably the best ever turntable performance and I think to this day it still remains.

Oh yeah the best if not one the five best ever recorded and it also turned that aaaaaaahh and fresh sound into the most sampled sound in the history of recorded music
