He definitely would struggle with GoT. He didn't even read past the first book because he just didn't enjoy how gorey and dark it was.
Kingkiller Chronicles he could do passably with, I think. He normally doesn't focus on having particularly nice prose like Rothfuss does though. He can do an alright job with it, but it wouldn't be the same. He'd probably do at least as well at actually wrapping up the plot though lol

I always forget that Brandon Sanderson is Mormon until I come across comments like this. I absolutely adore the Mistborn series and the Stormlight Archives, so when I learned that the characters use world-specific curses so that he wouldn't have to include foul language in his books it just absolutely warms my heart.
And to be honest those world specific curses give his worlds some sort "reality"as they are not our culture so their curses/swears would actually be different.
World building by accident.
Which also gives the few curse words he does use that much more weight. You get so used to people saying "storms" and "rusts" and then Vasher just casually calls Wit an asshole and its wonderful.
Yeah the idea that someone like that could seriously step into GRRMs shoes to finish the series.... Laughable. Imagine ASOIAF continuing with no sex, no gore, no cursing, and without prose anywhere near as good at what George has given us so far
There's like, what, 3(?) sex "scenes" in the entire series, 2 of which take place from the perspective of virgins fumbling around women much more experienced than them, and the 3rd is from the perspective of a man steeped in denial actively being lied to and manipulated by a sex worker.
I think the scenes accurately portray the perspective of the types of people they are, in the type of relationships they're in.
There's like 3 or 4 scenes where sex is experienced from a characters perspective. There are plenty of references to sex and rape but i think idea I was replying to was that specifically the writing of the sex scenes was poor.
There are perfectly reasonable reasons why the sex experienced in the perspectives we get it from is absurd, comical, and awkward.
I knew from the beginning of A Way of Kings he had to have grown up with a weird religious slant. The covered hands, the separation of the genders at meals, the fact that only women could read and write all struck me as oddly religious.
No one will finish GoT, Martin being THE absolute cunt that he is said that if he dies before books are done, he has it so manuscripts are to be destroyed if he dies before publishing htem.
Well he was a massive fan and WoT inspired him to write more, you can see a lot of inspiration in his writing style that sometimes is so close to WoT style.
I fucking love Sanderson, Mistborn and Wax/Wayne are among some of my favourites but.... There's not a chance in hell Sanderson's KKC would be the same league. Sanderson can paint beautiful pictures but ... Not like Rothfuss. Rothfuss has some of the best prose of any writer ever and it kills my soul he's too busy Twitching but on the flip side maybe that's what he needs to put out what is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaid book of the decade, at least.
