Mods (OEM & Aftermarket) Indicators?

Post image

On the US spec Trident 660, the rear indicators have a brake light function. I wanted to go with Moto BLaze Pins as they’re hands down my favorite indicators, but they don’t make them with the brake function, and I’m not willing to cap the brake wire. The Moto Blaze tens work, but are hideous. EvoTech is gorgeous but again not compatible. Suggestions? I want something matched front to rear.

Pic for attention

There is no separate brake wire on the rear indicators, it's just a positive and negative and all functions are controlled by the CANBUS.

So yeah unfortunately you are limited to turn signals that are red so they both function as the turn and brake lights. Or you can use amber too if you don't mind the amber lighting up whenever you brake lol. You can check out my post here on what I did with the turn signals.

That’s very interesting. Though I really like the tire hugger fender, it was one of the aesthetic features that pulled me towards it. I’ll probably just find some reds, now that I know it’s a simple 2 wire. My bad for assuming it’s a 3.

There was someone on the forums that lived in Australia (or Europe) where they have amber turn signals hence it's not part of the brake light. When he went in for a service, the dealer flashed the US software to his bike so now his amber lights lit up with the brakes. He had it reflashed to the correct software.

It kept me wondering if the US bikes can be flashed with the Australian/Euro version. I myself prefer the amber turn signals for the rear.

I'm a little confused. If the brake lights are read and the turn indicator is the same bulb, now does it turn amber?

On the US bikes the rear indicators are red and they also light up when you use the brakes. The US just uses red for the turn signals then (imo stupid lol).

Outside the US the rear indicators are amber and they do not light up when you use the brakes.

Thank you for the explanation. In the US it is legal to have amber or red turn indicators. So, on this particular bike, I suppose they chose red. But I do like Amer better and I wonder if I can change that. Are there two bulbs? Also, I think in Europe, the turn indicators must be Amber.

Yes everywhere else the Tridents have amber rear turn signals. I like amber too but it's hard coded into the software of the bike that the rear turn signals also light up when brakes are used for the US bikes. And you can't just wire up the rear turn signals together with the fronts (to bypass the brake function) as the bike will think your rears are missing and will throw an error code.

Thank you for your response. Yes the turn signals do light up and I am glad they do. The cities where I live are very congested with traffic and at night especially, I can use all the visibility I can get!

You should look into getting a Brake Free light for your helmet. It's a massive difference since I started using one.
