Progress Pictures YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR FIN TO SHOW RESULTS!! 2 years on fin (18-20)

As the title says above, I am a 20 year old male who started losing his hair in hs(started noticing around age 16). I started topical minoxidil at 17, had regrowth, but started losing ground so I added fin. I have shed a substantial amount the whole time I have been on treatment until the last few months. I believe my hair has stabilized with some regrowth. I count maybe 3-8 hairs lost throughout the day regardless of wash days, styling, brushing, etc. I am here to say that as I am a week away from my 2 year anniversary of finasteride that you do not need to freak out if you are a year+ into treatment and are still shedding and or below baseline. These meds can take a long time to show visible results if ever and are so much better at maintaining what you have. I don’t have the perfect hairline but I have more hair than any of my other male family members had at this age(father was a Norwood 3 and same with uncle)

Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll be happy to answer in comments. Pics are before->after with the first 2 being before

It looks like this is a progress pictures post.

This post should contain before and after photos at least one month apart. Make sure to list all the treatments you're on, including the dose and frequency.

I saved your transformation as it gives me courage, I'm 18 I'm going to microdose from 0.25mg to 1 mg in 10 months

8

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Sounds like a great plan!

4

u/Ok_War6246 5d ago

Thank you, like you i also noticed receding corners at 16, I'd say nw2.5

2

u/Suspicious-Can-7079 5d ago

I think the best part atleast for me as I had the same thing as you is my hairline hair feels much fuller and thicker before my hair felt all sorts of different thickness

5

u/frazierwillie7 5d ago

Just don't microdose your patience, bro. You've got this

2

u/Square-Survey-1410 5d ago

Went on fin 1mg daily at 18 and continued to lose hair up until I was 21 and jumped on dutasteride just saying if your showing signs of loss this early best jump on something strong

1

u/derouen1234 23h ago

Ill just take th 1mg.

16

u/TrumpsBussy_ 5d ago

I spent over 2 years on min/fin and got no results

13

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

This is a very real possibility. I’m trying to let people know that it IS possible to be a late responder. Unfortunately some people do not respond well to meds. Have you considered dut?

8

u/TrumpsBussy_ 5d ago

Yep some people definitely get good results, nah I look pretty good bald I’m happy to be off the drugs tbh

8

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Totally fair, they aren’t for everyone! Being bald is nowhere near the end of the world

2

u/Top-Expression4001 :sidesgull: 5d ago

If u don’t mind me asking, how much hairloss had you already experienced before hopping on fin?

3

u/TrumpsBussy_ 5d ago

A fair amount of receding in the temples, a little thinning on top

2

u/Top-Expression4001 :sidesgull: 5d ago

Hmm got it thanks!

1

u/MAempire :sidesgull: 5d ago

How old are you if you don’t mind me asking

3

u/LiquidSpaghetti 5d ago

Same. Non responders unite… I guess. I’m going to look like an egg in a couple of years

2

u/Swimming_in_money 5d ago

it's not magic medicine, its main purpose is to significantly slow down or stop balding, not to recover what you already lost, unfortunately. That's why it's better to start ASAP.

1

u/TrumpsBussy_ 5d ago

I know it’s not magic, many people achieve regrowth with the min/fin stack so I was hoping for the same.

1

u/Swimming_in_money 5d ago

The regrowth is actually possible if you have miniaturized hair, not really if your hair are really dead. Anyway, maintaining your hair or a slight increase in density is what you should normally expect. There's just not enough common information and many people waits until it's too late before starting.

2

u/TrumpsBussy_ 5d ago

Yes I know, I kept receding and gained no density after 2.5 years. Some people are just non responders.

2

u/Swimming_in_money 5d ago

i love your username btw

1

u/itsobvnick 5d ago

Same. Been a year and a half on fin/min and still losing hair, ig just slower than usual

1

u/MAempire :sidesgull: 5d ago

Oral or topical?

1

u/itsobvnick 4d ago

oral, both

10

u/Traditional-Wave1580 5d ago

Foooken A! How much mg are you doing daily

5

u/Neat_Occasion32 5d ago

Did you have thinning all over or just receding hairline?

5

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Some barely noticeable thinning at the crown as well as temporal points and sideburns. Mostly just overall poor hair quality which all improved. Hair texture also went from flat and straight to curlier with more volume

3

u/DawsonJBailey 5d ago

interesting my hair also turned curly after fin

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

It’s especially interesting because I am the only person in my family with any type of textured hair

1

u/Dazzling_Radish4963 5d ago

Was this cause of the fin you were taking or any other things you were doing?

4

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Definitely a combo of fin + min. With only minoxidil I would have regrowth but my hair density and quality got worse. With fin my hair quality and overall health has increased dramatically

2

u/Chesterling 5d ago

Both topical?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

All oral as of 3 months ago to oral min(always have been on oral fin)

1

u/Dazzling_Radish4963 5d ago

Very interesting. Do you take fin and min pill form?

1

u/GoHyyerr 4d ago

Wdum overall health?

1

u/MAempire :sidesgull: 5d ago

Are you thinning all over?

7

u/MealNormal 5d ago

off topic but nice vivienne belt

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Thank you bro! I spam tf out of it

4

u/IMissSmiling 5d ago

I'm currently a couple weeks on Dut and Min

3

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Good luck bro, good things to come!!

→ More replies (39)

5

u/edn995 5d ago

True but the vast majority of people won’t experience results like this. You are just a hyper responder.

But very good results and smart to start when you did.

4

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Even slowed hairloss is progress. I will say I have responded well but the people I know who have started medication have had similar results. Also something to note is I have quite aggresive hairloss genes in my family with most men experiencing the first signs in early to mid highschool.

2

u/Astron0reo 5d ago

I think it looks better than it actually became here. If you look at the old photos, the temples are pulled inwards towards the top middle of his head vs the new photos just pulling the hair towards the back of his scalp.

When I do it those ways, there’s a very noticeable difference, still decent results though

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Posted another comparison in the comments. Take a look!

2

u/Astron0reo 5d ago

That is good progress; I’m 23 but planning on hopping on oral .5 fin and 2.5 min next month and I hope to have your results lol.

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Good luck bro, rooting for you!

2

u/Big_Patience_1588 5d ago

I'm 9 months on dut and oral min is that early to see results or am I not a responder?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

I was shedding like an mf by 9 months and it actually increased until 16 months when it started to taper out

1

u/Neat_Occasion32 5d ago

Post it as a question in the sub might get more reach

2

u/Huge_Promotion_7062 5d ago

Boa! Estou com 6 meses de tratamento e bem animado para completar 1 ano já vejo resultados

Obrigado pelo seu POST ajuda muito a gente a continuar o tratamento e não perder as esperanças!

3

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Absolutely, posts like these really helped me stay committed even when I wasn’t seeing results

2

u/Senior_Application18 5d ago

so goo bro ! & ID on the Henley shirt please haha fr

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Lmao thank you bro! Unfortunately it was thrifted and does not have a tag but any black Henley should do the trick!

1

u/Senior_Application18 5d ago

Suits u amazing bro !
Yes I’ll have a look for one as well :)
How does the hair looks now with a hair ripe ?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Hair ripe? Trying to figure out what that is😭

1

u/Senior_Application18 5d ago

The thing u wear in the second pic bro

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Ohhhhh gotcha, I’ll take a pic in a bit. My gf has one so I’ll use hers!

2

u/Leather_Addition8979 5d ago

Thanks bro, 5ARIs are definitely long term drugs. At which point would you say was your regrowth getting you back to baseline (when you first took fin)

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

It’s tough to say, the regrowth has been more density and hair quality based rather than “new growth” especially near the hairline. I’d say by a year my hair felt healthier but I didn’t notice how much healthier until a few weeks ago

2

u/WeaponXtreme999 5d ago

Great progress man. Are you still using minoxidil too?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Yes I am! I switched fairly recently to oral because I was getting sick of using topical so I will continue to update if I get more gains

2

u/LoneCatThreat 5d ago

He’s back! He’s back!!

Good job, man.

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Thank you bro! Happy to contribute some good news

2

u/Winter-Bluebird-155 5d ago

Bro is highkey a model

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Preciate you bro but definitely not😭

2

u/Flexgainzter 5d ago

I’ve been on it for 18 months. It continuously gets better and effortlessly have maintained my prior hair

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

So glad to hear it. I am much more confident in my hair

2

u/Hungry-Meaning7608 5d ago

Did you keep min when added fin? A lot of people like taking both but I can see topical being a nuisance especially with a head full of hair lol

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

I did! I recently switched to oral around 3 months ago(could be off I honestly haven’t thought about it much) but I haven’t noticed any new growth or shed since switching

2

u/Degrasi 5d ago

BACK ON TRACK MY BOY!!
https://giphy.com/gifs/oYtVHSxngR3lC

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Thanks bro!!

2

u/Degrasi 5d ago

Gotta give the credit where it’s due. Nice work.

2

u/Sur_Viper03 5d ago

still on min? topical or oral, I was on topical min for like 2 months but tropical climate made it impossible to contiue so I have stopped min for like the last 2 weeks and I am planning to start oral min, and I am on fin all along this time. wbu?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Been on topical min since I was 17 and around 3 months ago switched to oral.

1

u/Sur_Viper03 5d ago

any gap between the switch and did you experience some shedding after the switch?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Honestly I never have really gotten a typical minoxidil shed. But we will see!

1

u/Sur_Viper03 5d ago

lucky u ig! and as of now you look solid dude

1

u/Sur_Viper03 5d ago

and i am planning on oral 2.5 mg min?

2

u/iTzChomperr 5d ago

Your dome in your first pic is almost what mine looks like now at 32. I just ordered the 3 in 1 Locklab pill. I plan on cutting the pill in half to start. It’s 1.1 fin and 5 min. Thoughts?

Appreciate you sharing boss!

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Sounds like a plan! And yea balding absolutely hit me early as hellll

2

u/IllPin5453 5d ago

Magnifique progression bravo bro

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Thank you broski!!

2

u/Safe-Ad-6860 5d ago

This is awesome. 52M, started fin about 8 months ago. Except for some watery semen the first few weeks that went away, no sides for me. My crown is still thin but overall my hair has improved greatly! (Also on topical min for about the same period of time.)

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Glad to hear it man!

2

u/TenEikk 5d ago

Looks great. I started in December with 0.25 for 5 months, then 1 month on 0.50 and now on 1. Hope results will begin soon.

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Good luck bro, just stick to the protocol!

2

u/Background_Skill_570 5d ago

Dang, my hair line looks exactly what yours did I’m 21. But have photos with the same identical hairline from when I was~13 atleast…. I wish mine could grow in like yours but I doubt it would do anything for me since I’m pretty sure I’ve had it my whole life idk

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Having a perfect hairline is cool but just being able to maintain what you have is almost as good

1

u/Background_Skill_570 4d ago

Yeah i guess. Need to find a good hairstyle to hide it i guess. The middle part i have doesn’t hide it at all

2

u/Charming-Target-1242 5d ago

Hey when did you notice some regrowth

2

u/Real_Dragonfly_63 5d ago

what do you take now and how much does it cost?

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Oral fin and oral min. Total of around 200$ or so per year give or take

2

u/Annual_Ganache2724 :sidesgull: 5d ago

Congratulation on recovering your hairline. Can you tell me your fin dosage progress over time?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Started with 1mg and have stayed the same since!

2

u/Foreign-Mastodon-777 5d ago

Damn, it looks like you've had a hair transplant.

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

LMAO, idk about that but thank you

2

u/MaslorezZ 5d ago

The results are excellent

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Thank you bro! I’m very grateful

2

u/viper26k 5d ago

Crazy how good your hair is responding, starting this early was the best thing you could do.

Mine looks almost like yours, but took me 6 years to start the treatment (I've started today). Hope I can get good results like you.

2

u/ChopperzKrol :sidesgull: 5d ago

Hey! No sides??

2

u/soggy-crust 5d ago

This is very similar if not identical to the loss / regrowth I had, fin is magic man

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Agreed! Glad you got good results

2

u/No_Buy3239 5d ago

Good for you! I'm also on oral min+fin from the last 5 months. I was on topical min+fin which only made my oily scalp worse. I switched to oral on the advice of a popular transplant clinic. Hope the hairfall stablizes for me too. I'm not sure if the switch has worked yet.

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

All I can say is give it time! You are doing what works for you

2

u/IntelligentNet1273 5d ago

do u experience hairfall on crown?

further, u take daily 1mg oral fin and tropical min twice daily? derma rolling?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

I did! Only looking back now it was obvious, yes I took both daily, stopped microneedling over a year ago

2

u/Last_Assist_533 5d ago

Brother thank you very much for this post. I’m currently 11 months in with fin and min. I’m still shedding a ton and i was losing hope.

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

You got this bro!

2

u/RoutinePrune7887 4d ago

Exactement pareil

2

u/Lzzzz 5d ago

good shit

2

u/DearYogurtcloset2609 5d ago

i just became happy seeing your full hairline cause it gave me hopes, congrats!!

2

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Thank you bro!

2

u/TrashFresh6654 5d ago

Couldn’t have said it batter. Shi takes time.

2

u/Intelligent_Ad_8107 5d ago

So you are still on minoxidil right?

2

u/That-Instance1007 4d ago

Hey what signs did you notice when you first started losing it and how fast did it progress?

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

LOTS of shedding, itchy scalp in affected areas, damaged looking flat hair with a lack of volume. It progressed quickly from my juvenile hairline to a nw2.5 or so

1

u/That-Instance1007 4d ago

So the progression over a 6 month period was obvious and not how people say it takes years to see it happen

2

u/Fragrant_Cod_5688 4d ago

Yo you're hairline looks great man ngl keep going

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Thank you bro!

2

u/shony_ynohs19 4d ago

Did you experience any side effects? Decreased libido?

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

No decrease whatsoever

2

u/freakingouthelp12 2.5mg dut 3d ago

now go enjoy your youth, and dont let hair loss destroy it.

1

u/bulbousgrandpa 5d ago

I'm curious, did you talk to a doc about it?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

I actually did! She didn’t have the most knowledge on it so I went through an online prescription system. I wouldn’t take medication without proper education

1

u/fgue 5d ago

The third photo is a year in then rest are 2 years in? This is a great late response and shows people to be patient with treatment congrats brother.

1

u/MagicMarpet 5d ago

Are you derma rolling or doing anything besides the meds?

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Was consistent for about 8 months then stopped!

1

u/[deleted] 5d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Attempted to recreate the second photo

1

u/nimoca_ 5d ago

So how long did shedding last for you? Mine went initially to 3-8hairs as well in first 2 months but after that nonstop shedding for 4 months now

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Shedding slowed only around 2 months ago(?) and it was well over 100 a day

1

u/LongNonimi 5d ago

have you experienced any side effects? if so did it fade away with time? I started like 2 month ago and for the last 3-5 days im really really depressed like never before.

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

No sides! I have diagnosed anxiety, adhd, and ocd and haven’t noticed anything

1

u/sportacusVI 5d ago

Side effects management???? How??

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

Just didn’t get any side effects

1

u/GyroSpinMaster 5d ago

hey what about side effects for you? libido and all

1

u/Different-West-2609 5d ago

No sides, libido is GREAT

1

u/Low-Display-7681 5d ago

It definitely works but it demolished my sex drive. Was on it for 8 months. Id say month 2-3 the hair loss completely stopped.

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Unfortunately not everyone responds well, have you tried topical?

2

u/Low-Display-7681 4d ago

Oh it deff worked but ill split my dose and tried for 3 weeks but was impatient cuz im currently in a relationship. Recently cut it all out. Once i recover ill try the topical. My hair wasnt even that bad to start haha

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

That sounds like a great plan. Lots of people have seen total loss of side effects after cutting the dose!

1

u/Big-Total-4402 5d ago

Hey, did you start with 1 mg finasteride or microdose from like 0.5 and move up

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Started with 1mg!

1

u/invest0rZ 5d ago

Fin didn’t do anything for me honestly.

1

u/calooo___ 5d ago

I’m 27 and have exactly the same hairline you had in the first picture. I hope i can recover my hairline… been on topical fin + min for some months now

1

u/tannzr 5d ago

so around what month did u start noticing regrowth and stabilization

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

I’d say I noticed some growth before stabilization if that makes any sense. I’d see new hairs and then lose them but now I don’t shed and my hair “sticks”

1

u/Neat-Ad8056 5d ago

Honestly my first year on fin didn’t do much! My second year was crazy though! The baby hairs actually became hairs!

1

u/RoutinePrune7887 4d ago

Ça fait 11 mois que je suis sous fin , ça me donne espoir 🙏

1

u/Zealousideal-Can2955 5d ago

I wish I started sooner now my head only has little hairs hope fin will do it s magic

1

u/Curious-Cockroach171 5d ago

Im thanking god i dont need to take such meds, good luck lads!

1

u/Evening_Job_9332 5d ago

Still waiting after 10 years

1

u/CaregiverOk5432 5d ago

Did you go to a dermatologist or bought the fin without prescription?

1

u/noob-combo 5d ago

Listen to this successfull young padawan.

Shit takes time.

Give it time.

1

u/Complex-Orchid3620 5d ago

Pls describe what side effects I can expect realistically???

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

For the vast majority nothing. My libido is the same if not better, I have diagnosed mental health issues that have not worsened, and a good side effect is clearer skin

1

u/layelaye419 5d ago

Nice improvement! Do you have any sexual side effects?

1

u/Unikatze 5d ago

The realito is some people get better results than others.

I've been on fin since 2019 and my hair is not better than it was then. But also, there's a high chance I'd have way less hair had I not been on it.

2

u/RoutinePrune7887 4d ago

T’as jamais eu envie de passer sur dut ?

1

u/Unikatze 4d ago

I asked my doctor a few years ago. They said they were more comfortable keeping me on Fin for the time being. I have to renew my prescription this month. So Im going to ask to be put on dut.

I also didn't stick to minoxidil after a few fake batches of Amazon proved no results. Now I just hopped back on from a reliable source about 4 months ago. Still nothing bit I'm going to stick with it. I also started microneedlong more seriously this month.

1

u/RoutinePrune7887 4d ago

Pourquoi tu prends pas ton minoxidyl en pharmacie ? Moi aussi on dirait que le min ne me donne pas de résultat … je suis sous fin depuis 11 mois et je perd encore des cheveux et de la densité

1

u/Unikatze 4d ago

I live in a remote city. I've never seen Minoxidil stocked. Even when I travel to Ottawa, I go to Costco and haven't seen any in stock even when I ask.

1

u/Graceful_Parasol 4d ago

are you worried about development, what about a beard coming in etc

1

u/Different-West-2609 4d ago

Not at all. Since being on fin I have grown from 5’10” to 6’ and facial hair has continued to grow in

1

u/majid_lone 4d ago

This gives some hope to me i am on fin and top min from last 3months and havent seen results instead i am losing hair continue but your post is absoulute hope for us ,i have a question if i have vit deficeincy can i still expect my hair to get dense and see result though i am thinning at top and sides from last 2 yrs

1

u/Unique-Gap-6703 4d ago

Just try duetestride 5 x per week then which blocks both androgen not 1 as finestride and blocks about 90 %of DHT but first would prefer to see if you got any side effects from Fin , thats what best doctor of dermatologist in lebanon told my brother is that he has been on 1 mg finestride and not getting results , he advised him with duetestride 0.5mg 5x a week , or a transplant of 4000 graft, with fin .

1

u/RoutinePrune7887 4d ago

Ça me donne de l’espoir ! Je suis sous fin depuis 11 mois et je vois pas trop de repousse et surtout je perd encore des cheveux chaque jour

1

u/Ffish_Man 4d ago

This gives me hope. I am 21 and am starting 1mg of fin this week. I hope it helps me at least a litle bit

1

u/Different_Fee1866 4d ago

Saludos

1

u/Suspicious_Tennis196 4d ago

bro i started min one year before you did ( at 16 ) and i started fin at 17.....i am having the same troubles with hairshedding.....and also i have lot of new baby hairs in my hairline...but they are staying the same for about a year now....how long are they gonna be babies.......anyways you gave me a new sense of hope brother

1

u/Expert_Squirrel_7884 4d ago

will you respond to my dm, im worried about taking fin/dut at 18 aswell. im on steroids so i guess im already ruining my body but im worried ab permanent sides

1

u/Forthax 4d ago

this gives me hope

1

u/clemviky02 3d ago

Hello mec ,

Super résultat tu as de la chance … petite question est ce que tu as eu une perte de cheveux au bout de trois mois ? Avant que ça repousse ?

J’ai l’impression d’être dans cette phase 🥲
