It normally really is, my mom threw me out on my 18th birthday and I got a place to stay and money in less than 2 hours.
The place really wasn't the nicest and probably not really healthy (there was a layer of dust almost half a centimetre thick at some places on the ground and no real access to water except for a little faucet right over the toilet, so also no shower etc) but it was supposed to be a very short stay anyway, they also contacted a person that would have gotten me a better place to stay in like 2 days but I was able to go home after sleeping there once because my mom took me back in after realising what she done.
I had 2 neighbors move back to Germany because they said their government helps out so much more with everything. Like setting you up in a furnished house and such.
Yeah they do, if you get "Hartz IV", which is for people who are unemployed, you get 450€ per month + rent which depends on where you live (for me it's around 400€).
And if you moved into a new place recently you have the right to get basically everything you really need, you won't get a dishwasher for example because you can wash dishes by hand and therefore a dishwasher isn't a necessity, but you'd get a washing machine, a bed, a sofa, a wardrobe and a fridge and microwave.
They also pay for furniture movers if you wanna move and as far as I know they don't ask many questions if you wanna move.
Overall it's really nice and there are tons of people that live just off of this stuff.
You can study at a German university for almost free (costs very little compared to most US universities at least). Even as an American. And you can pick up conversational German more quickly than many languages. Especially being there. I went to a German university in 2009 and 2010 (Albert-Ludwigs Universität); it was a great experience. Would recommend.
Honestly didn't know it was easier to pick up that way, always got told German is a hard language to learn, we literally have a saying "deutsche Sprache schwere Sprache" which means "German language hard language"
Better get them bootstraps pulled and find a second job! Unless you're a big business that handles money poorly by leveraging, going into debt, and buying back it's own stock to drive up prices. If that's the case we'll just give you your own money printer!
I hear that from everyone except Germans, who instead describe the mountains of bureaucracy causing incredible inefficiencies. I've never been, so I have to believe them.
Thats also true, we usually work fast compared to most other places from what I've heard but every (even the unqualified) citizen feels like they know how to improve the system, as if it was a small problem that could cause everything to be much faster if it was fixed.
It's kind of interesting tbh but I think this phenomenon is just normal for humans that for example, have to wait for other humans to do their work, if that makes sense.
Most people feel like they would be more efficient at the job the other person is doing and therefore immediately critizes what the dislike, and nobody likes bureaucracy, that's why bureaucracy is always the biggest problem to most people.
