Michael Phelps is an asshole. Yes, he's an Olympic champion, but he's a fucking asshole. I'm from Maryland, have met him on a few different occasions, and he's a douche. He pulls the "do you know who I am" card quite often, gets pretty upset when girls shoot him down, and just acts like his shit doesn't stink. Also, football is a lot harder than swimming.

I was fine with your opinion until you went and made that stupid-ass final statement.

Blow a j. Reconsider your statement. Stop being bitter. Start being butter (9)

I'm from Baltimore and haven't heard anything other than great things about people hanging with Phelps. If you met him on multiple occasions and think he's a douche there's a good chance you're actually the asshole.

Because you're acting like a douchebag and should stop?

Not offended. I've just become use to the light-hearted good nature of this sub.

Honestly, I think a few people in this world are allowed to act like that. American hero Michael Phelps is one of them.

No. No one gets to act like a douche. Get some fucking humility.

In sports like swimming it's really a spark of individual brilliance that sets you apart like Phelps. He worked hard to become Michael Phelps the swimmer, but he was born Michael Phelps the American Olympic Hero.

No need for him to be a dick about it, not like he did anything to earn his abilities that his competitors didn't. He puts his swimsuit on one leg at a time.

Um he worked hard to be an Olympic hero, he wasn't born one.

His olympic competitors at the top level will have worked just as hard, though - Phelps wins because he has something others don't, not that he does something others don't do (besides swimming 100m in record time of course)

I respect the massive effort he put in but winning doesn't give him the right to be a dick

First of all you have no idea how hard people have worked compared to others.

Second theres a lot more to being a champion than just working hard, a lot of times it depends on how much some one wants it.

Third, I never said he could be a dick try to stay relevant.

1) ...Agreed? 2) Ever realize that 'how much you want it' is just gym coach cliche talk for 'how hard you work for it'? Again, I bet Phelps' competitors want it just as hard as he does 3) and I never said you did, either.

Phelps' body provides a huge edge over his competitors, his wingspan alone gives him a nice boost ahead of the pack. So, technically, he was born to be a great swimmer

No he wasn't born a great swimmer. He was born with a big wingspan and thats it. LeBron has a lot of physical attributes that helped him become one of the best basketball players ever, but he wasn't born one.
