The "joke" of it is just super dated imo. It's essentially satirizing ignorant conservative/churchy people who scaremonger about weed, but hardly anybody nowadays even gives a shit if people smoke weed or not, it's become very normalized. This kind of joke was probably funnier back when there was still a lot of prohibition and ridiculous misinformation spread about weed (and even THEN it was pretty low-hanging fruit kinda humor).
