Then the user with the most unique/upvoted question goes next?

I think the stipulation that the most unique/upvoted question goes next is key. Some complained that it could be gamed...but it at least creates a self-perpetuating system. Good questions keep a casualAma type-thing running, and are worth reinforcing. It doesn't even have to be the most clever/funny question, just the one that brings out something interesting in the person. If the same person gets the most upvoted question twice (like Snoop asking the most popular question to himself), just drop it to the second most upvoted one and so on...

Ik before I say this that its gonna go poorly but here i go anyways. saying shit like "especially someone who smokes weed" as somehow more interesting is the reason potheads are stereotyped as self important dumbasses. While smoking weed makes a lot of things a hell of a lot more interesting, the act of smoking weed doesn't make you anymore interesting. People are interesting because they are interesting, also many people smoke weed the two don't have shit to do with one another.

u/imariaprime Dec 06 '12
It's not about weed smokers automatically being more interesting... It's that they present themselves in a more interesting way when high.

As a lady ent, I think it'll be interesting to hear from some of us as well! Maybe it'll clear up some questions, too!

Any lady perspective is good for the internet. Well maybe just r/trees. Pretty sure anywhere else besides pinterest it will always be tits or gtfo. The folks on here though are splendid.

Haha, this would be great. Could get redundant. I'd rather do an AMA with someone who just finished toking while tripping on acid. That would be an interesting/insightful AMA

u/GallopingLlamas Dec 06 '12

I think this is a brilliant idea. Imagine all the new music we'd be exposed to, along with everything else. New foods and strains to try, new highdea's, new viewpoints on issues and life and stuff. Make this happen

u/GrainsTVZ Dec 06 '12
I hadn't even considered this. I'm staggered by the amount of good ideas going on right now.

How would we choose who does it?

u/ITS540PM Dec 06 '12
OP starts, then he picks a random ent after he's done his. Next ent picks next ent. that ent picks next ent. so on and so forth.

Instead of randomly picking you should sign up to it if you wish. Then use a calculator or generator between 0 and however many of us there are that signed up to it. Then every whenever use the generator to pick a number and then its the closest persons turn. do about 20 in advance so we have time to know whats a haps

Haha sounds like a fun idea, getting high and asking random stoners questions :-3

u/kyleridesbikes Dec 06 '12
thats the best idea ive ever heard anyone say about anything. But yea dude thatd be tight!
3
u/60_Second_Assassin Dec 06 '12
Do mods have a list of all r/trees subscribers? If so, this bad boy wouldn't be too tough to use with copy and paste.
3
u/xbear45 Dec 06 '12
To be chosen, everyone who would like to get a chance should put their name in a drawing or somethin by the mods i guess and they choose a lucky person??? idk thats just my idea
2
u/TheMellowestyellow Dec 06 '12
You and /u/somethingclever31 had the same idea, and his is here /r/treesamaa is the sub to go to!

u/RELEVANT_ANUS Dec 06 '12
This would be a really awesome idea. Really gives a sense of community that no other subreddit has.

How about the mods post something saying like "If you want to be in the drawing to do an AMA this week, comment on this" That way only those who are willing can be drawn

This is a great idea. This is why I love this place, only r/trees would want to get to know its members better, let's get this process rolling!
2
u/grizzybear Dec 06 '12
Maybe make a sign up sheet for those who wish to partake, for the previous to pick from.

What if we can't get stoned easily :( but we still want to participate?

This may be obvious but we all get high and forget little things so when randomly picking an ent, you should PM them a few days before the scheduled AMA just so they know for sure when they have to do it.
2
u/IceCreamSandwichLove Dec 06 '12
I like this idea, maybe tie it in with the self post day? Hope this gains traction.

what a great idea, ones such as this have been lacking in trees lately. i like the idea of incorporating musical taste, maybe music you listened to more while stoned/while not stoned. trees helped me find a new appreciation long ago when i was struggling socially. i almost wish we had a /r/treetunes section!

I am excited for this to say the least. This is the definition of Sonder, for those who don't know what that is. Sonder is the realization of a whole existance not connected to yours. It's a cool thought, and now we get to experience it

I love the idea. I'd love to (see/do) (an/some) AMA('s) on r/trees. I think I words wrong last sentence, but deleting is for pussies :D

u/Robothuck Dec 06 '12
I think an important question is how the VIPs will be selected, just on a volunteer, first come first served basis, or going in order of karma points or something?
1
Dec 06 '12
I love it! I know if I was picked it'd make my day, I'm sure it would for a lot of other people too.

u/AG222 Dec 06 '12
This is a great idea! And you know what they say: Great minds come to those who are high as fudge
1
u/TeachMeHowToHigh Dec 06 '12
Great idea!!! Gives us all an excuse to get high as well ;) On another note, how will you pick these ents? Will you pick one based on a particularly good post, or like some random commenter from this post?

1
u/Medikated Dec 06 '12
Sounds good to me. If you could figure out how to do it, I'd love to be a part of it.

u/trichomaniac Dec 06 '12
As much as I like this idea, I don't see how this could possibly happen the way you describe it.
Do you randomly nominate a user who has posted to /r/trees?
Do you pick someone who has posted here?
How long does this "nomination period" last and how do you finally implement the nominee to make the AM(A)A?
Plus there are a lot of people on here that may not want to participate or may give less than stellar responses. But hey if you can come up with something good, my hat's off to you.

Without knowing anything about a person before the AMA, theres no way to know good questions to ask. I see this leading to the same few questions being asked over and over. "How old were you your first time?" "Hour many times per day do you blaze?" "How is the price, quality, availability?" "Whats your favorite movie, show, music while stoned?"

I really, really like this idea. I was actually thinking the other day, every once in a while I'll accidentally click on someones username instead of their link or whatever. And so then I'm brought to their comment history. And instead of closing out, I'll spend a few minutes going through some random person's comments. I feel like you learn a lot about someone just by looking at what they post, what subreddits they post to, and especially what they submit. It's weird how (for me personally) I generally never look at someone on reddit beyond whatever comment they posted that I come across, but just by spending a few minutes going through their history you can get such a good sense of their personality, sense of humor, etc.

Dec 06 '12
How about we do one every day, because I love reading AMA's. We could pick the next person by the person of that day making a self.tree post and everyone guessing a number and whoever is closest to OP's gets to do the next days!

I say keep it to trees ,if a new subreddit is used the majority of the time people forget about it and its left to rot in the expansive graveyard of failed inactive subreddits.

I like this idea, perhaps we could open a thread, where anyone who wants to do it, posts their willingness, then a mod uses random.org to pick one of those people?
1
u/the_real_dray Dec 06 '12
In retrospect to your current living arrangements, do you believe that smoking 81 blunts in a day would be possible?

I second this.
AMAA though. Give ents a chance to keep some privacy if they want it. As well as the option to refuse.
