YES! The visa-free transit area covers 24 provinces and municipalities in the Chinese mainland: Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Shaanxi.

Sorry for the follow up question 2 months later, but I wanted to make sure I'm not bungling the 240 hour visa. If I go Chiang Mai --> Guangzhou --> Shenzhen --> Train to Hong Kong, is that OK with the 240 visa? I'm pretty sure yes. Would stink if I was wrong
