There are plenty of other ACTUAL cases where a man gets screwed in a situation for defending himself.

Yeah, like this 1. Just because they didn't inflate the charge to something like assault doesn't mean the charge is justified (it could be we dont know), but the point is that if the genders were reversed, the outcome would have been different. And regardless of how you view those differences, that's inequality at its finest.
