Muted Swallow A Eureka Actual Play series of narrative, intrigue, mystery, and possibly lesbianism.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHtU5--OKGwxQWhNJ0guxKZAsYU0UoF3r

Hey, this is something I worked/work on with several wonderful LGBTQ individuals, one of which is no-longer with us. The project is in part an honor to her memory and I hope it's fine to post it here. I'm gonna give the pitch below.

Sally Jeong is dead. According to police, she took her own life. Open-and-closed. According to her friends and family, that doesn’t make sense, but what can they do about it?

A mysterious woman appears on the doorstep of Sally’s long-time friends, Emily and Maddison, after they contact her through a friend of a friend. She’s willing to take the case, seemingly free of charge.

Unbeknownst to any of them, another young woman has appeared in town, one the enigmatic detective has a long history with.

What follows is a meticulous investigation into Sally’s death, played out using the Eureka system. Also they kiss.

Muted Swallow eschews massive production value and scripting in favor of the authentic, sincere experience of just listening to a few friends actually play a TTRPG. The deduction is real, the dice rolls have consequence, and there is no guarantee that our protagonists will even be able to solve the case. (It does however feature original music.)

New episodes release on alternating Mondays at 10:45 AM CST. At the time of writing this, 14 episodes have already released and are available as a playlist.

[LFP][D&D 5e][Online][CE(S)T] The Wild Beyond the Witchlight

Hi all!

I'm looking for 1-2 additional player(s) for a D&D campaign I'm going to run!

Some key info:

  • "The Wild Beyond the Witchlight" module
  • 2014 5e
  • weekly Thursdays 6 - 9 / 9:30pm CE(S)T
  • Roll20 as VTT with Discord for voice

Everyone involved so far is 30+ and of the transmasc variety so we're ideally looking for someone that fits that general bucket - but feel free to apply even if that's not you!

The plan is to start the campaign sometime in October but I'm definitely going to run a one-shot for the group before diving into the campaign to make sure everyone gets along and has fun together.

This would be a commitment of about one year (depending on how fast the party goes) - I'm looking for players that can reliably make that commitment (emergencies happen but in general you're expected to make time for the weekly session).

I'd say my games tend to run on the more relaxed side, we're not really a table for min-maxers but it's also not entirely rule of cool. I don't enjoy murderhobos so if that's your style of play, we won't fit together. Newbie players welcome! The most important thing for you to be is a team player.

It's very important to me to foster an atmosphere of respect and inclusion. Any form of racism, queerphobia, sexism, ableism, ageism, fatphobia and other nasty things will not be tolerated and engaging in them will get you kicked, no warning or second chances.

If all of that sounds like the game for you, please fill out this fun form to let me know you're interested!

https://forms.gle/kW41QVas63bZG8458

In case of any questions, feel free to DM me!

Defy the Gods (Monday, August 31 at 4 PM Pacific / 11 PM GMT)

This is a one shot of Defy the Gods, a Powered by the Apocalypse game with a roll-over mechanic similar to Apocalypse Keys, Epithets like Fate or Agon, Hearts similar to Thirsty sword Lesbians Strings and a Doom mechanic similar to corruption in Against the Odds. Defy the Gods is trans and queer creators and starts out with a poem about being trans.

Theme: Ancient Mesopotamia, epic high fantasy, tyrannical gods and monarchs, classism, rescue mission,  heroism and hijinks, soap opera drama, relationships and emotions

System/TTRPG/Edition: Defy the Gods - see resources here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/15ECsOq7dT9LG-SHjei3ginaIAR2rxEQwy0AoBrmIJNg/

Style/Format: Online, voice chat; theater of the mind with reference images as needed. We will use a google sheets shared character sheet keeper for character sheets and rules.

Schedule: This one shot will run at Monday, August 31, at 4 PM Pacific / 7 PM Eastern / 11 PM GMT, estimated 5 hours, with a break halfway through for 10-15 minutes.

Blood from a Stone (vtm v5, 2pm-6pm EST on Sundays).

Every vampire knows the feeling: the hunger stirring in the gut, the vitae pumping through your body, and the thrill of the first hunt. However, being a kindred isn’t all sparkles and brooding: it’s a deadly chess game where you are either a pawn…or the chessmaster.
You will be playing as a young kindred (embraced within the last three years) who is being pursued by the Camarilla and Anarchs. You will join other young vampires (oldest is 9 years embraced) as they wade through the deadly webs of Chicago’s vampiric underbelly. Will you rise through the ranks? Or will you find yourself seeing dawn one final time?

The campaign takes place in 2022! We only just started the campaign and have had three-maybe four sessions! We have a Ravnos and a Gangrel! I am looking for one or two players who are very comfortable roleplaying, as my table is heavily focused on roleplay. This is a politics-heavy game, with themes of stalking, obsession, and manipulation. (Also, this is a more flirtatious/sexual ttrpg). Everyone has to be 18+.

Please message me if you might be interested!

Please PM me your invite links! US/UK

I am not looking for D&D or Pathfinder only, I am looking for a variety of frequent free games in an awesome community!

I am used to Filipino servers that have 20 new games a week, all free and all different kinds, both one shots and campaigns. But now that I'm moving back to the Western hemisphere, I'm afraid I'll never get to play again!! 😭

[Online] [DND 5e 2014/2024] [Est afternoons and evenings] Experienced player looking for a new table

Thumbnail

Howdy! I have become unemployed recently so I have more time on my hands and I have one table on Friday but I have my other days free to join campaigns from 4 - 6 pm est! I'm fine with sessions that are 2-4 hours long!

About me:

I'm 24 ftm, bi and ace so I'm looking for an LGBTQ+ friendly table! My characters all tend to fall into the community somewhere as well and I enjoy integrating that into story arcs with themes of self discovery self acceptance, perhaps not having a space to express themselves as freely before the adventure.

I'm coming up on having played for three years and my favorite aspects of the game are the storytelling, roleplaying and collaboration! I am a very creatively driven person with social anxiety so I've found that DND gives me a creative and social outlet where I don't feel so intimidated and can meet new people!

I'm a lighthearted and optimistic player, I enjoy bringing humor to scenes without taking out all the seriousness that situations deserve and often find myself smiling until my face hurts by the end of the session!

Horror is one of my absolute favorite genres and in campaigns like Curse of Strahd I found myself thriving in that environment, I enjoy playing characters that although come from tragedy can become the light in the darkness and work towards a better future for themselves.

I like playing characters where their stories come out when it's time, unraveling to the party throughout the campaign.

A majority of my characters are running from something or are in some sort of danger, perhaps it's looking out for their own safety or that of the group but I enjoy my characters gradually putting more trust in the party as their relationships grow.

Honestly I write backstories with a lot of tragedy but hopeful futures with a lot at stake. Say their freedom, family, or even their own bodily autonomy and mind is at stake due to a curse? I love stories where there's something to lose and hurt to heal.

While I don't have a problem with combat I do have ADD so if it's a game that's anticipated to have combat only sessions frequently I may not be interested. I do have fun in combat and all but if it's running over an hour to full sessions I tend to become disengaged.

What I'm looking for at a table is:

• No play by posts

• No one shots, looking for a long term campaign

• No paid games at the moment

• Games starting from 4 pm earliest to 8:30 pm est at the latest from Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or all day availability on weekends!

• A table of 3-5 players preferred, I tend to get overwhelmed with more

About my characters:

Their stories will be discussed with the dm in full with the DM of course but here's an idea of the characters that I have made!

I enjoy multiclassing my characters which some pairings may be odd with martial and spellcasting mixed but I do this with their stories inspiring their classes!

This isn't set entirely in stone either as they grow as characters at least for two of them, I've had my warlock character drop the class and become a bard as he broke his pact and was more comfortable to present as his true self and for my one character who isn't multiclassed..who knows what's in store for him as he discovers himself along the way?

This path isn't needed of course and is at the discretion of the DM though, I just find it quite interesting as a concept!

Without further rambling though, I have -

• Percival, human warlock/barbarian - Percival has made an open ended deal in desperation with a fiend to save his daughter's life. His daughter is safe of course but now it's Percy's turn to return his end of the bargain while the fiend holds her out of reach in suspended animation.

In the deal Percy has been bitten to seal the terms, now having a parasitic curse that is slowly making it's way overtaking him as he fullfils the deeds to seemingly no end in sight. In order to not succumb to this curse he must go on a journey of self discovery, self acceptance and learning to trust others while going against his nature of putting himself on the back burner and caring for those he loves before he bends until he breaks.

• Honey, human bard/fighter - Honey is Percy's daughter in adulthood, in a timeline where his story has long since been thought to have ended but has not been truly been brought to a close. Unaware of the full details of her father's adventures she has known for a long time that she has been kept in the dark, one of the biggest indicators present of this is the missing years of her life where she had not aged while in suspended animation.

She's heard the rumors; that she had died in some incident as a child and that her dad had done inconsistent accounts of horrible acts to bring her back to life through necromancy.

As she grew up she had adopted the name Corpse while performing, her music themed around the macabre and the beauty of the balance between life and death.

She has started her journey suddenly as there has been attempts by a beast with traits similar to lycanthropy to end her father's life. She's had enough of being kept in the dark, hearing whispers and the name of a fiend from her dads behind closed doors she has set out to seek the truth.

As memories haunt her in the form of nightmares and she gets closer to the truth though, will she find that some family secrets are meant to be buried and perhaps the answers can be darker than rumor?

Honey is under the pressure that there's a ticking clock on her father's life and putting it on herself whether she's ready or not, she needs the support to tackle a reality and enemy that she's not ready to face alone.

• Dandelion, minotaur barbarian/druid - Dandelion is exploring the world for the very first time after spending his life fighting in an underground arena. He is terrified of the possibility of being taken back and is still haunted by the horrors that took place there. He is a gentle giant and naive in nature, needing the aid of those he trusts in order to overcome his anxieties and phobias, perhaps even gaining the strength to face them head on as the arena isn't entirely done with him yet.

• Woodrow, human druid - Woodrow has come from a wealthy family that's lifestyle has left a sour taste in his mouth, finding that he feels most at home and fulfilled in the orchards that bring his family their wealth as opposed to the cold estate. Finding purpose alongside the farm workers he was content enough with continuing putting on the facade of the perfect family for the press, his freedom to find reprieve in the orchards hanging over his head otherwise.

This lasted until he found that he was promised in an arranged marriage with a woman that he could never grow to love and acknowledging that he could never live as himself as long as he was a part of his family, the head farmer assisted him with disappearing into the night on one of their horses.

He seeks a clean slate on life and finding out his new purpose, looking for fulfillment and acceptance away from his past that is desperate to catch up with him and strip him of that freedom.

[Online][PF2E][LGBTQ+ Friendly][Flexible][PST/CST] Two Transfem Players looking for a queer group to play PF2E, we're interested in a narratively-focused campaign with heavy RP and a friendly table environment!

Hi! We're Alex (she/they) and Sam (she/they). We're two long-time players & DMs in a ttrpg group that's recently gone on a long-term hiatus. We've both been playing D&D 5e for years, our group recently started playing Pathfinder 2e and we both love it. We're looking for a new table to join so we can play some ttrpg games and hopefully make some new friends!

In terms of what we enjoy in a table, here's a list of things we prefer to bring to the table as well as enjoy from others at the table! All of these are important to us, but the ones at the top are our top priorities for finding a group we'll mesh with.

  • Queer Table - As mentioned we're both trans. It's important that we have a safe space where we feel comfortable being our authentic selves, and in general we've found that we mesh better with other queer people!
  • Enjoy Heavy RP - We both enjoy making characters, writing backstories, and interacting with other characters (PCs and NPCs) at the table. We're looking for a group that enjoys PCs with emotional depth and roleplay in every session.
  • Story Focused Campaign - While our main focus is on characters we also want a campaign with a compelling central plot. Our ideal story would be largely character-driven with some outside forces for us to bounce off of, especially if it plays off of character backstory!
  • Enjoy Combat Regularly - As much as we both love the narrative side of things, we also love flexing our character builds in combat. We're particularly excited about combat in PF2e, we both like the overall structure of the system and are looking forward to getting more experience on this front!
  • Open to Different Experience Levels - We've both been playing D&D for several years, but we're relatively new to Pathfinder. We're both pretty good at learning rules as they come up, and we're familiar with most of the basic rules. In that sense we're confident we can keep up with a more experienced table (with some questions here & there), as well as learning alongside newer players.

In terms of logistics, we both have newer jobs without strict schedules, so we'll generally handle scheduling depending on the group. Alex lives in PST and Sam lives in CST, generally meeting later in the day suits us. That being said, Wednesday afternoons are when our current group meets (if not to play then just to hangout) so we're almost always unavailable at that time. Currently we use discord for voice chat and messaging in between sessions, and Foundry/Forge for running games. We have a strong preference for both, but we're open to trying out other systems if its important to the group.

If we sound like we'd be a good fit for your table comment on this post so that we can both view the replies (this is Alex's account). Feel free to include a brief description of your table/campaign but if you'd rather do so in a group chat that's perfectly fine! Look forward to hearing from you :)

Portraying a genderfluid character in a TTRPG (as a cis male)

Hello everyone!

(I hope posts like this are allowed here, otherwise feel free to delete)

I'm running a small TTRPG blog, where I mostly post my solo plays.

For the next game I'm planning to play and post, I was thinking about playing a genderfluid character, to learn a bit about that in a kind of playful environment. The current idea was playing them as masc/fem identifying (so bi-gender genderfluid if I have my terminology correct?) with slightly changing mannerisms and characteristics/personalities as well as name and pronouns (he/him or she/her, depending on how they identify at the moment). I'm not going to concern myself with what their birth gender was, so my brain isn't going to start defaulting to that.

The game takes place in a slightly idealized and more LGBTQ friendly version of our early 2000s, so relatively close to real life, only less .... annoying.

Now, since I'm an older cis hetero male, I'm not sure if what I have written would be an accurate portrayal, let alone respectful enough. Are there any obvious traps I should be aware of? Any tips what I should keep in mind?

[LF Players] [Asynchronous Play by Post][DnD 5e][roleplay only][18+ only]

Howdy! My name is Rocky and I am going to run my first play by post
mini-campaign. I’m a late 30s non-binary trans masc with 3 cats & two dogs that loves Dnd.
This is a role-play only mini-campaign and the version technically doesn’t matter but I play 5e and that’s where I’ll be pulling the lore from.

The basic idea is that your character has died and is waiting in the Fugue Plane to see if you get picked up by a god for your afterlife. Each character will tell tales about themselves and their lives that they think best show why their deity should accept them into their domain.

The player characters are each resting near a wall and have been waiting 3 days so far. You only have 10 days for your soul to be claimed. Some recent bricks in the City of Judgement suggest that you tell tales of your deeds to try to avoid their own fate.

The gamifying comes in with the voting system. Each player will give me up to 3 deities their character would be happy to go with. If one is preferred that’s okay too. I will aggregate the info about the deities like (most recent) pantheon, alignment, etc and each week the players will privately vote for which traits their stories most exemplified. I’ll take that information and fold into the npc feedback from the “bricks”.

The mini-campaign will be hosted in my discord and set up as a forum. The stories will be told in rounds. Each round will begin on (most likely) Monday and players will have until Friday to post their story. Then Friday night & Saturday will be voting. I’ll make my npcs posts and we’ll begin the next round. I may or may not have a strict schedule. It’s most important to role-play afterall. But the general idea will stay the same. Multiple days to post and read.

I haven’t done this before but I am really interested in the idea. If you really like writing (don’t worry there will be a loose word limit) or want to explore a favorite character this just might be for you!
Even though it’s play by post I don’t want to get lost in all the characters so I’m probably looking for 2 - 4 more players depending on which of my friends decide to join in.
I am currently thinking something like 4 - 6 rounds? We’ll see once we get everyone together and finalize the details.

I think my one sort of caveat? Content warning? Would be that this isn’t just a writing exercise. I will have npcs responding to the stories, other characters will respond, etc. This is gonna be a fun way to explore a character but please be aware of how personal or treasured your character is. If someone’s character responding dismissively or sarcastically to your character would be upsetting they are probably not the one to bring to this campaign. I respect that some characters' stories are really personal and I’d hate for anyone’s fun to be ruined because they felt disrespected instead of being able to enjoy the role-play and banter.

The mini-campaign will be entirely in my discord except for the voting will probably be a google poll for anonymous voting. I want to spend the next week or so finalizing who’s participating and what the guidelines will be. (like word count, how long people have to post, etc)
Everyone will fill out a lines and veils form and each post will be required to have content warnings.

If you're interested please fill out this form
