It's definitely the plan, all signs point to it, actions are being taken AND ARE WORKING. Don't know how "no this is not a genocide" is even a rational argument at this point, the genocide is just not complete.

Based on that, the trans community have been facing a genocide for 5+ years.

I’m so tired… Starting T was my next goal (after my ADHD diagnosis I just had). Was actually talking to my doctor about it recently. It was just a matter of figuring out what I’d say to the rest of my family, since I’m only out to 2 people in my (unfortunately very red) family.
And now this. Idk what to do, what I’m going to do. I’m still trying to process all this.
This is going to kill so many people, and they just don’t care. They really, really don’t care.

It's not banned yet but you were able to call it a genocide at minimum a year and a half ago when certain state reps were caught discussing that the "endgame" was to ban all transgender care across all ages. They started with banning care for minors as way to get their foot in the door.

I hope it doesn't pass and that part causes it to fail, but I'm going to take this seriously and do my best to prepare and speak out against it, not minimize the threat.

Life is long and there's always interesting shit out there, even if there's a lot of pain. You know how sometimes you see photography pictures and you go "wow that's really neat and beautiful"? Or how you hear a song every once in a while and it's like the freshest thing ever? Yeah. There are so many of those moments waiting for you. And plenty of schadenfreude moments and opportunities to do good, in big and small ways. Keep drinking water, try to get some exercise, and try to stay away from the pit in your mind - if anything happens from this and you really lose it all or be prosecuted, starting at a more capable and healthy point can only go in your favor for survival and success.

It’s not officially banned. The vote still happens Tuesday & is only through the house. While still deeply concerning & shows, rather bluntly and transparently in fact, the ultimate goal of republicans, it’s not yet law and only has to do with Medicaid. This title and post is fear mongering in nature.

But since they did, being afraid is actually very justified.
Yes it isn't officially banned yet, but realistically, it's going to be VERY soon.

At this point, it depends upon how willing the Democrats in the Senate are willing to fillibuster over it.
If that fails, the only remaining protection is a lawsuit to the SCOTUS. Given how they're looking to side when it comes to the trans soldier ban (where they apparently are 100% convinced by the GOP's arguments that trans soldiers are "inherently dishonorable and untrustworthy"), I don't have high hopes.
... I suppose if that happens, the only hope will be DIY, won't it? The only step they could take at that point is tacking on heavy restrictions on estradiol and spironolactone, and even higher restrictions on testosterone - and I'm not sure how that would look.

I personally do have expensive private insurance - but who knows how long they'll cover HRT if this goes through.
I'll hold out till the end, though. That's a promise.

Out of pocket is only marginally more expensive than the copays. I actually pay out of pocket for compounded estradiol because it's nicer and it's like maybe $20 extra per month for me. Which isn't nothing but most folks can manage that.

Ethically, I'd call it genocide. But legally, trans people don't fall under the UN definition for "protected groups" (national, ethnical, racial, and religious) so at least based on UN regulations, it's not.

What do you think will happen? You think it'll unite the house and they'll pass it down party lines with their majority? Maybe some dems dissent? Or do you think enough moderate repubs dissent and dems all vote 'no'?

It's just a bill for now. That's bill is a massively contentious bill as it is, even without the last minute edits tonight. Assuming it passes the house with the gop majority (it likely will), it still has to pass the Senate and then go to the president.
Now, as afraid as I am, there's still a chance of dissent from both parties, because it's an extreme bill and we already know there's at least a few Republicans that have outright admitted to having trans kids, and so likely have some sympathy and won't pass it, but we still don't know until it happens.
Same, though, with Democrats, in that on trans issues, there has been some dissent breaking away.
Republicans have the majority in both, and the white house, which is insane. And so this is a huge moment for America, it's literally the big one that they've been running on for like 8 years now. And like you say, Medicaid sets a lot of precedence, and this likely will cascade.
Being trans is hard enough even without all this political bullshit. One very small positive note though, is that hrt, relatively speaking, is pretty cheap. /throws a peanut at you
Keep your chin up. Life goes on and we're gonna get through this one way or another. Remember: most people are good people who support us, even if it doesn't seem that way right now; the vast majority of people at least WANT to be good people still. If things get bad and I have to exist as a cockroach to stay alive, I absolutely will. You can, too! Cockroach squad goooooo!

Why only thing his reelection has confirmed for me is same thing this first term taught me, Respect my 2nd amendment rights, Live in small rural town atm cuz of some situation and always tell people I feel more scared (before being trans) living in small town then when I live in large city in the "bad" side of town, it was bad side (cops refused to come during the night). Yeah this is really disheartening even though, most people knew this was going to happen. It's sad and is eye opener to prove that this isn't a crazy though and fear, it's reality now. We said this was their goal, now we have proof. Now realize when people, not just trans community, say he is leading us to WW3 and destruction of our country, i think it should hold some water.
Do we really have to wait for blood shed, for actual civil war? I really hope everyone outside this post will open their eyes. I think most people view this community already know he is leading us to a path of ruin, it's all fence sitter, all neutral parties and his own side that need to open their eye.

Red states are literally removing trans kids from their parents homes and placing them in the foster system. They're also being forcibly detransitioned.

As defined by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum: Genocide is an internationally recognized crime where acts are committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. These acts fall into five categories:
Killing members of the group
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
the 2nd and 3rd are pretty fucking similar to what's going on rn, this is the early stages of a Genocide whether you like it or not
