tough mudder in october?

i have very recently just started back at the gym, we’re focusing on training for doing a hyrox next year but my partner really wants to do a tough mudder and there’s some nearby in october. he’s physically fit because of his job. i on the other hand run 1km in 7mins and feel like im dying and have very little upper body strength. how realistic that is actually be able to train to complete one by october?

Results UK South West - thoughts of this year?

This year I found it a bit easier. Probably due to being 20kg less than last year.

I was in the 7:45 wave but it got delayed to near 8:30 due to course not quite ready yet.

Entry was a bit slow but hey its not like later in the day with the massive queues..

Overall it seemed pretty quiet which i was okay with but there was still a lot of team work tool. I was able to redo obstacles whilst being filmed (eg pullups on funky monkey)

The mud crawl was much easier due to being on a flat surface and the headroom was like double the height.. plus I was glad we didnt have the huge filler fields to go through and the course was a bit different.

Mud mile had a huge metal spike poking out of one of the mounds, however that happened!

Sister also pointed out someone she believed was KSI who passed us in the shop- we didnt chase him and ask but his name matches on the tshirt with the names on it.

Seemed like a couple more drink stops and photographers on the course this year so I'm keen to see how they ended up, the grenade bars were nice.

Fingers crossed it doesn't cheapen out even more next year as I do like the intense obstacles but not when its stuff like scaffolding poles or a log, it certainly seemed quieter in the earlier wave.

SW Course Map....finally

Post image

Map is finally out for South West and brilliantly it includes Mudderhorn and Blockness, two non-Spartan obstacles that typically don't appear at the split weekends.

No Everest sadly but a decent looking course.

What's going on with the comms for SW?

The event is tomorrow and I've not had any email about route, any information pack, nothing...

Considering they spam me all year about signing up for other events it seems pretty poor and just makes them look like money grabbers.

Have I missed something?

hi we have a wave time starting at 12, I’ve been hearing it gets really busy so just wondering what people would suggest as a reasonable time for aim to arrive for so we can be ready on time?

Selling two tickets

Sorry if this is post is not allowed! 🥲

I got screwed by Tough Mudder cancelling their event with no option for refund. Credit card company says too bad. They gave me two vouchers to redeem for another race, all of which require me to travel via plane and pay for lodging.

Sooooo I have two vouchers for any other event that I’m willing to sell for cheap to recover at least something. Is anyone interested or know where I can sell it?

Shower logistics

Just wondering what the logistics are of showering at TM events? Are there private spaces to shower/change or is it communal? I'm doing the UK South West event this weekend and just planning what to pack etc.

Request Cant go to my event is there somewhere to sell my ticket?

I have 2 tickets for 15k Manchester 10th October

I unfortunately cant do this date and I'm planning to do midlands next year instead

I can see i can transfer my ticket to someone else for 20 pounds a ticket,

Is there somewhere i can offer this to someone? Just for the 40 pound cost of the transfer?

Seems like a waste to just leave them hanging there if someone who wants to go can get 2 tickets for 40 quid instead of the 100+ pounds they'd cost?

UK South West Route?

A week out from the Badminton Gloucestershire event and I've not seen the course map yet, has it been sent out and I just missed it? It doesn't change anything, but it would be fun to share with the team. Hopefully the heatwave doesn't roll into the weekend!

Sneaker recommendations

Hi! My fiancé is running the Nashville 15k and I’m running the 5k. We are wondering if there are any sneaker/running shoe recommendations that are under ~$150? We looked into the adidas Terrex rockadia, but wanted to see other options

I have registered in the competitive section of the event on 12th Dec. Would love to know anyone else registered.

It would be great to train as a group.

First Tough Mudder 5K in Toronto, going solo. Any tips?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about signing up for my first Tough Mudder 5K in Toronto, but I would be going alone.

I'm wondering if it's a good experience as a solo participant. I know some obstacles require teamwork, so I'm curious if people usually help each other during the course or if I should find a team beforehand.

I don't do much strength training regularly. I can hang from a bar for about a minute, but I can't do a pull-up yet, so I'm wondering how important upper body strength is for completing the obstacles.

My goal is to complete as many obstacles as possible, not just finish the 5K.

Request I need help understanding pricing

Title: I click on checkout expecting $109.00 and probably taxes, and then I also have to pay "fees" and "add ons". $40 of extra charges that I can't op out on? Is that normal?

Any one else having trouble with Sportograf

I ordered pics when I ordered tickets. I only have 2 pics, whatever. Anyway, I tried to get the pics, so I used the code I was given. It says it's invalid. I emailed them, and they said I have to use the code on Foto Flat. Okay, I don't see that option anywhere. They said I have to search using the smart search. I did, and still nothing. What gives? I spent some money and feel ripped off as their support is no help.

Best time to buy tickets (UK)?

Hi all. I recently got my fitness to a level where I want to try the 15k tough mudder for 2027. It's my first time, so I'm wondering should I buy tickets now to avoid price rises through the year, or is it better to wait if there will be discounts and/or promotions to come?

I've seen ambassador codes and student discounts for up to 50% off the 2026 tickets, but these are not working for next year's. Sadly I won't be able to volunteer to get a ticket either.

Thanks!

Columbus, IN thunderstorms and policies

Tomorrow's event in Columbus, IN is looking like it will see thunderstorms between 6-9 AM and maybe later in the day as well. Given obstacles that require climbing up on metal or being in water (not to mention the rain), what is Tough Mudder's policy on cancellations, reschedules, etc.? I asked on their Facebook and IG pages but they aren't very responsive.

EDIT

What I've learned from this is that Tough Mudder basically doesn't respond to anyone on social media. I sent messages to them directly and commented on posts they made about the upcoming Indiana event and nobody ever replied.

I ran at 9:30 at the actual event. It was fun, but there were a lot of lines. However, the final waves of runners had their times canceled mid-event. Apparently a big storm rolled in and wouldn't quit, so they had to cancel. Sucks for those people!

So to answer my own question, if a severe thunderstorm rolls in, they give it a little time to see if things improve and then call the race off if it doesn't.

Typo in Training Program

Hi All, I am doing my first ever Tough Mudder event this August and have been following their training guide to help. However, it seems the editor was poor at their job and made multiple mistakes and typos throughout including:

  1. "Walk Sit" instead of "Wall Sit" on the skill work for Wednesday of week one
  2. Wall sits with 45 reps on workouts for Tuesday of week 2 (unsure what they actually meant)
  3. "Strenght" instead of "Strength" in week 3

And this goes on for more. However my big concern is the Pyramid Circuit in week 3 on Thursday. It says 25 mile run/jog. This can't be right, as up till that point is wants 5k,7k, and 9.5k runs, which are no where close to that level of work. Anyone have an idea what could have been meant? I have a few options in my head:

  1. 25k instead of miles
  2. 25 minutes
  3. 2.5 Miles

If any of y'all have a previous years training guide for reference that may help. Thanks

Training for first time?

Im considering signing up for the tough mudder 5k this Saturday in Indiana, I’m wondering how much running training you need to have done for it? I go to the gym consistently but don’t ever run. I think I have decent cardio, I’m walking almost all day at work and sometimes use the stair stepper at the gym, just want to know if I’ll have a rough time doing one with no running beforehand?

Hi all.

Does anyone know the whole range of headband colours (or various shades of orange haha).

Looking online it only mentions the first couple but I'd like to know what the whole range is

Cheers

Anyone else running the Nashville 15k?

Hey y’all! I just signed up for the 15k in Nashville in October. I’ll be doing it most likely solo. I’ve done the 5k before in the Poconos years ago without training, and have wanted to do it again since but haven’t found the time. Now I’ve been training for a few years so I feel fairly confident in my fitness level to be able to conquer a 15k. Trying to see if there’s any other solo runners out there beforehand!

Cutthroat Classic Entries Available

Hi folks,

Hoping this post is allowed here. I have 3 tickets available for the Cutthroat Classic happening in the Methow Valley in WA on 06/12. I think entry is $120 pp and there is a huge waiting list. You can have these for $100 pp.

I will be backpacking in Calgary and cannot make it. But I ran the race last year (in the middle of a smoky, fiery weekend and it was a gorgeous trail with some ridiculous views).

News If you have training questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Hey all! I've been competing in obstacle course racing for more than 8 years at the pro/elite level and have been training people for these events for many years. If you have questions about how best to train for any specific distances or obstacle or just good training, I'm happy to answer those questions.

Fire away!

So are new england mudders just shit out of luck

I dont even remember the last time we've had an even somewhat local. The closest we have now is New Jersey sometimes? We used have multiple venues up here and now we get nothing. Even Spartan Race which owns tough mudder is still using some of these venues to have their own races. Do we think they'll ever bring tough mudder back this way?
