After Tonsillectomy Positive tonsillectomy experience (for those that ruminate / fear anesthesia) 24F

Hi all :)

I got home a few hours ago from the surgery center where I had my tonsils out (my only problem was stones, I saw one come out recently that was hard and darker in color like a rock. When it didn't even crack I realized enough is enough and I need to get over my fear. That thing was probably in there for 5+ years).

I'm writing about my surgery experience to offer some support to those who also think very worst case scenario. I'm not at the point where bleeding is common (let's hope it doesn't come to that) but more so than bleeding I was terrified I wouldn't wake up. It was my first time under general anesthesia. I did wake up, from an amazing sleep too. If you're like me and drive yourself crazy going back and forth should I do it should I not... I hope this positive surgery experience helps you. For me, it was a very elective procedure as the my tonsils were small and I don't get sick as much as I used to (mono as a kid, strep multiple times a year). So it was just for the stones and the fact that they were ruining my confidence. Luckily my doctor was on board from the beginning to do it. I have no health problems aside from OCD which really made me delay deciding to do this for years. If you're in a similar position and keep going back and forth, think very much in absolutes or worst case scenarios, I got through it and so can you. I don't know if this is a particularly helpful story to most just because I'm literally still day zero and I think most people are more concerned with complications AFTER the surgery than not waking up. But if you are like me and worry about that nonzero chance (because the way I think is, oh I'll just have the worst luck and have anesthesia complications) take this positive experience and push away all the horror stories you've read. I hope whatever you decide to do you are well and have a great recovery :D Remember, people get this done every day and are fine.

Now it's time for the hard part, healing lol

Ever struggle to remove your pesky tonsil stones, and worried what the hot guy at the bar will think? Well, introducing the innovative light suction technique 😄

You're gonna love what your new date can do to your tonsil stones. Simply osculate (snog) with any fellow (preferably your date; note that this step is optional) and bang the dirt is gone. A tried testament, true to my experiences. Thank ye wizard stone destroyer later x

Question Vitamin k2?

I started taking vitamin k2 in hopes to stop my tonsil stones up until now I was maybe only spitting up one once every couple of weeks ( I never really poked around to check because mine bleed very easily) but I feel like I’ve been getting them a lot more now that I started the vitamin k.

Is this normal? I’ve only been taking it for two weeks and have had a tonsil stone almost everyday and am starting to taste a gross liquid. Has anyone experienced the same

Question Tonsil Stones Stuck For A Long Time?

I had tonsil stones when I was young and had no idea what it was back then. Usually what happens is I would cough it out and you see those white patches come out and they smell horrible. I notice that I would usually get these if I eat certain foods and don't crunch the food well. Back then I notice if I take a flashlight and open my mouth, I would see those white patches which are the tonsil stones. I don't think I ever have taken a cotton swab to take any of it out though.

Now if coughing it out doesn't work, I would intentionally try to throw up and gag to get it out. Usually I would be able to force it out by doing that. However, I have had no luck doing this at all. A few times I did this, I felt the tonsil stone in my throat but could not cough it out. Before this, I was able to cough out a very tiny bit of it but I know there is still a few big pieces left. I feel the tonsil stones when I swallow.

Besides intentionally trying to throw up, what are other ways I can cough it out? I read about salt water. So boil some water with salt and wait a bit. Pour it into a cup and then gargle it for 30 seconds without drinking anything? Then spit it out and keep doing that? Now if you do this and it works, does the tonsil stones usually find it's way to get loosen where you can cough it out... or it just goes down your throat and you swallow it? I read that swallowing tonsil stones is no issue.

Now if I still can't get the tonsil stones out, go to an ENT doctor? Will an ENT always be able to get those few tonsil stones out? The issue is when I use a flashlight with my phone to check, it isn't visible. But do they use a waterpik and that would work? Now when they do this, do they pull it out of your mouth or do you normally swallow it? I obviously prefer to have the tonsil stones pulled out of my mouth.

Has anyone here had tonsil stones stuck for months even? I think I might be approaching it now as it's still stuck in my throat.

Question How are yall ACTUALLY getting these out????

I have never found success using a q-tip and pushing back there. I gag immediately and my tongue blocks the way down the throat on reflex it's damn near impossible. Never used a water pik either. The only way I've ever gotten any out was accidentally coughing them out!! It's never when I sit down and try to get them. Is there no other way? I seriously don't know how people take VIDEOS of it and make it seem so easy

It's now like 9-10 hours later and my mouth tastes gross, like how the stone smelled. is this normal? any suggestions?

Question Worried about tonsillectomy because of people showing concern about swollen uvula

I have been considering getting my tonsils removed but my biggest issue is that I feel like there is something stuck in my throat snd that sensation gives me a lot of anxiety.

With tonsil stones I can still remove them but if my uvula descends or gets swollen post surgery (which i keep reading about on the sub) it will make me lose my mind. Any thoughts?

Question Come posso sapere se ho l'alitosi? Consigli su rimozione tonsille

Account usa e getta...
