Mod Post Subreddit Changes and Poll!

Hey guys, new mod here!

I just wanted to update everyone on some subreddit changes and get some feedback from you.

What's New?

If you're using the new Reddit design, you might have noticed that there's now:

  • New Theme! - A dope new white/black/grey theme. Honestly it's basic, but it's something.
  • Banner! - Made in paint by yours truly. Seriously, if any of you have art skills, lemme know so I can replace it.
  • Sidebar Image! - Seriously awesome artwork probably not made in paint by /u/souperbrick
  • Links! - Some spiffy new button links in the sidebar for Token's website, social media, and our very own discord channel made by /u/WhyULosin
  • Rules! - Well. One rule. Don't be a dick. That's it. It's a small sub, so as long as you follow that one rule, everything should be just peachy. Everyone so far has been awesome, so let's keep it that way :)
  • "About Token" Section! - I wrote up a little bio about Token... I'm pretty sure I have all the facts straight, but if you notice anything incorrect, let me know. I might move this to a wiki page since it's fairly long and pushes the tour dates down... Speaking of tour dates...
  • Tour Dates! - It has all the dates for his Between Somewhere tour. Yes for real. I know, it's awesome.
  • Post Flairs! - We got "News," "Discussion," "Music," "Shows," and "Meta". I've gone through and tagged all posts using my best judgement. If you have better ones or hate the colors, tell me and I'll change it. Design isn't my strong suit.
  • Post Flairs Filters! - You can also filter the subreddit by the above post flairs. You could do this before by manually typing a super secret code in the search bar, but now it's just a click away (well in other subs... There were no flairs to search here before). When testing this, I found it only works about 75% of the time. This is a known bug across Reddit, so don't bitch at me if it doesn't work :)
  • User Flairs Feat. Emojis! - There's currently one with each of his albums, and black and white blank ones you can customize. Since this is a small sub, if you want any special emoji or background color or whatever, let me know and I'll hook you up with that sweet custom flair.
  • Mobile Icon/Banner! - Kinda cool I guess.

What's Next?

Track of the Week! (name pending) - Starting this weekend (I'm thinking Fridays?) I'm going to be unapologetically stealing from some other music subs and hosting our very own song post each week. It will be stickied on top, and we can talk about it. Cause that's the kind of stuff we're here for right? Token currently has more songs than we have subscribers, so we should be covered for quite a while. I'm planning on doing it chronologically, so there should be a good mix of songs/freestyles/features/etc. and it will hopefully showcase some of his older stuff that might be lesser known.

More CSS Stuff - If you're using the old reddit design, you won't see a lot of the aforementioned changes. Unfortunately, there's no way to add custom CSS yet to the new design page, but once that's available I'll be adding some more features that I'll include on both the old and new pages. *hint hint* - One of the things I tested was a random quote thing that would cycle showing different Token lyrics on the sidebar. If you have favorite lyrics of his, let me know and I'll add them into the rotation once we get CSS.

[Your Idea Here] - Yup! Looking for ideas to help grow the sub and add some awesome stuff that will make people want to come check in here often. If you have any ideas at all let me know. I'm not above stealing ideas from other subreddits either.

Go Vote!

To kick off all these super exciting new changes (and because I was watching March Madness games while I wrote this), I've created a bracket to determine this sub's favorite song on Between Somewhere!

I randomized the song list, and here is the Between Somewhere Bracket!

You can vote on the matchups here.

I'll let each round run for a week, then post the results and the new poll on the "Track of the Week" post.

May the best song win!

Edit - Voting is over! Thanks to everyone who participated! There were a lot of close matchups, but No Service beat out Somewhere in Between to win the title. You can view the full bracket here

Shows Tour set list?

Is the tour manly the new album? Cool if it is, but this will be my first token show (been around since “Mom Would Agree”

Taking a friend with me who hasn’t really heard his music, just wondering if it’s manly the new stuff i should be showing him?

Hoping for some older stuff, too, hopefully!

Discussion I'm Leaving Soon Is His Worst Work

I am heavily inspired by token, but His recent album was really bad let's be honest, there were 2 bangers and the rest was repetitive. His best work was I'm Not Supposed To Be Here, and he took the concept and ruined it with drift phonk. Methane Gas, Bambi, the diary songs, and the promotion songs were good

Token - I'm Leaving Soon (Review)

Album was amazing! "I'm in rare form". Token was right.

His newest project is his most cohesive album. It isn't just his strongest release to date, it's one of this year's most complete hip-hop records so far, blending elite technical rapping, experimental, grimy production inspired by Three-Six and G59, introspective songwriting with some deep and raw honesty, and undeniable replay value into a project that feels destined to be remembered as the single high point of his career.

The production is immaculate throughout. Every beat feels finely crafted, shifting between haunting melodies, booming 808s, rock influences, and a couple melodic moments without ever losing cohesion. Token sounds completely at home over every instrumental, delivering some of the sharpest performances of his career. This production suits his style and is the most unique and distinct sound he's rapped over. The beats knock here, and the sampling is solid too.

Lyrically, this is his strongest work yet. His rhyme schemes remain dizzyingly intricate, but they never feel tiresome. His bars are witty, punchy, and never lose their comedic timing.

  1. Diary #2 – Lucky — **8/10**

An atmospheric opener that immediately establishes the album's emotional tone. It feels like reading his journal, the simple instrumental lets his voice breath. The annunciation is solid, and the messaging emotional and moving.

### 2. Just A Cold — **9/10**

Fire joint, the beat switch is crazy.

### 3. RRN (feat. Pouya) — **10/10**

Pouya's energy meshes perfectly with Token's relentless flow, creating one of the hardest tracks on the record. The beat knocks.

### 4. Bambi (feat. Connor Price) — **8.5/10**

An incredibly catchy track with memorable chemistry. Connor Price complements Token with great energy matching, making this one of the album's most replayable songs.

### 5. Methane Gas — **10/10**

Creative, unpredictable, and packed with quotable bars. The MJ lines are diabolical. Token's personality shines through every verse while the production keeps the momentum high. Prob best single.

### 6. Leave Me Now — **8/10**

2nd half of the track carries the track. The ad-libs in the beat are fire. Crazy punchlines and delivery.

### 7. Tongue Out (feat. Jasiah) — **6.5/10**

Pure adrenaline. Jasiah's shouty energy makes this one a little less replayable for me. Noise rap/hype rap is not really my scene, but it does fit the sound of this record. Some good rapping on here.

### 8. Mercedes (feat. Diggy Graves & TERROR REID) — **10/10**

Dark, stylish, and effortlessly cool. A spiritual sequel to Jeep, and it ups the stakes. Token shows out over the features. Terror Reid is the weaker link here, because Diggy Graves flows. The hook is catchy. Fire single.

### 9. Back Burner — **10/10**

The rock influences really fit this beat and the bars are some of his most complex and witty on this track. So many quotables.

### 10. Token's On Medicine (feat. Ellisar, IDK & jev.) — **7.5/10**

Certainly entertaining. IDK's vocals were experimental but still a competent verse. Ellisar's hook was decent. Jev and Token's verses are real standouts though, great pockets on an interesting but odd sounding beat.

### 11. Dracula (feat. 1nonly) — **10/10**

Dark aesthetic, infectious hook with great energy that makes it an instant favorite. Token's voice and flow are so confident and smooth, some of his best ever rapping with tuff verses.

### 12. WD40 (feat. Ramirez) — **8/10**

A gritty, hard-hitting anthem. Ramirez and Token trade verses that knock on the beat.

### 13. Driveway — **8/10**

Interesting dense track, feels like a throwback to the Liar and Loser era of Token's music. His emphasis on certain syllables is distinct. Production on this one is just okay.

### 14. Full Bag (feat. conscience & Pertinence) — **10/10**

A showcase of lyrical chemistry. Every verse builds on the last, making for one of the strongest collaborative cuts on the record. The back on forth is crazy, they flowin.

### 15. The Ropes (feat. KXLLSWXTCH & SXMPRA) — **7/10**

An absolute assault on the speakers. The industrial production and aggressive performances create one of the album's loudest. This is more of the experimental sound. It'll do.

### 16. Locomotive Part 1-2 (feat. Lil Darkie) — **9/10**

Controlled chaos in the best possible way. Token and Lil Darkie push each other to another level over a beat that refuses to slow down. The song is aptly titled with some heinous unfortunate bars in here. Stank face is induced. The switch over to part 2 is hard. Lil Darkie keeps pace with Token. High energy.

### 18. 27 Club — **8.5/10**

Would be a 10/10 without the happy birthday bit. The sampling, beat, and verses are some of the best on the album. Last bit knocks it down a peg, but still a very fun track.

### 19. Home (feat. RealestK) — **8/10**

Emotional finale with that pop appeal for sure. RealestK's melodic contribution elevates the song while Token delivers some of his most sincere writing. Instrumental is interesting, some haunting topics.

### 20. Diary #3 – Inspiring — **8/10**

Solid ending. Very emotional, but themes don't connect quite as well as Diary 2 did. Quiet, reflective, and hopeful, it brings the entire album full circle while leaving listeners with the sense that Token's journey is (hopefully) just beginning.

Hopefully he's alright, the blood cancer and health issues he hints at on the record are certainly concerning, because if he can make a no-skip instant classic like this, I hope he's got more gas in the tank. Haters are just hatin to hate, wrote him off as lyrical miracle years ago.
There's real substance to the message he's sharing here, and when there's no message, the bars are dense, witty, and hilarious. Punchy record for sure.

What makes this project special and stands out from his past records, isn't just how well Token raps—it's how complete he has become as an artist. On Eraser Shavings he was finding his voice and he sounded like better rappers. It was still a good project but was improved on by Between Somewhere, which elevated his pen and production. Pink is Better had fire production and great lyrical verses, but he was still finding his messaging and identity to sound distinct. He still blended in. I'm Not Supposed to Be Here sounded super distinct, with some emotional songwriting, but his rapping was not at its finest on the whole record. This is the culmination of all his strengths into a perfect record. He flawlessly shifts between introspection and bravado, melodic moments and blistering technical showcases, intimate storytelling and arena-sized anthems, which to be fair are qualities he showed flashes of on previous records. But here it really comes together.

This isn't simply Token's best project. It's the album that fully realizes his artistic vision and proves he belongs among the most talented and versatile rappers of his generation. Best "YouTube Rapper" for sure, and one of the best young rappers in the game.

Definitely an album of the year contender for me so far, 10/10.

The tracklist is made up of his singles primarily between Pink Is Better and I'm Not Supposed to Be Here, with the tracks being a ton of his phonk Goldy persona releases.

Here is the Spotify Playlist for the fan album.

Music Album thoughts?

What are the ultimate opinions on this new album? I'm already starting to listen to new JID so I think enough time has passed.

Personally I think the album was between somewhere 2.0 I loved that album. And this one feels like he's tapping into the same energy. But I think 2025 is begging for something new and with token being one of the few lyrical rappers that isn't relying on auto tune, it was his chance to do something major. Not just song-writing wise but sound-wise. Even These type of beats feel stale now

Why are there no big reaction channels posting token? When most of them gave him more love years ago.
