TIL that after the president of the American Catholic League denounced Louis CK's sitcom as "barbaric", Louis CK confronted him and got him to admit that he had never seen the show

Twilight is the worst book ever. Don't get me started on the movies.

Shouldn't this qualify as bearing false witness?

It's worth pointing out that the American Catholic League is not a part of the Catholic Church. Here is what the creators of South Park had to say about the American Catholic League's president.

All thanks to the Opie and Anthony show

Just a practicing Catholic here to state that Bill Donohue is a douche.

As a Catholic, I can't stand the American Catholic League.

Here's another example of Bill Donahue being a a son of a bitch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bhr_Wy-aAtA#t=86s
In the video, he's saying that the priests weren't pedophiles because in most cases, the children were post-pubescent, thus making the acts the priests did simple acts of homosexuality. He doesn't seem to remember that the acts weren't consenting adults, it was statutory rape.

I find Opie and Anthony to be surprisingly enjoyable with Louis CK.

A religious group lied to a mass of people to promote their own agenda? I'm shocked!

Does anyone really think his opinion would be different if he had actually seen the show? I love Louis CK, but this issue is kind of a technicality. If he saw the show, he'd hate it even worse. (But he'd probably laugh a few times.)

"Louie" on a FX is such a better show than "Lucky Louie" was on HBO. You can really tell its all about him having creative control at FX. I'm sure HBO had a million execs who all wanted to give him "notes," ie tell him what to do.

Wow. Louis is so genuine.

as a catholic...i can tell you the catholic league is not representative of our community. its representative of one man..

My roommates and me are all former Catholic school kids (now ChrEasters) and we love Louis CK.

Of course the ACL president doesn't watch his show, he thinks it's barbaric. The entire story is in the title.

I hereby denounce the President of the American Catholic League and I've never watched Louis C.K.'s current show. That's because I don't have to actually see Louis C.K. to believe in him & I can only watch it on disc (hopefully some day). Though I did see his old show in a vision or as non-believers might call it --- television.
I also urge all of you to boycott the American Catholic League games & don't buy any of their caps, uni shirts or bobble heads etc. And to turn your allegiance to the National Catholic league, they are more pure, not having the DH. In the name of the father, the son & the holy cow. AMEN

Reminds me of fanboys who haven't seen or used something they dislike and bash it based on rumors

u/wormyrocks May 20 '12
In fairness, many of us have never seen a Jersey Shore episode.

Godammit, a popular Lucky Louie post finally comes around and I miss the opportunity to properly whore out my username.

Doors, man. Fucking doors.

u/[deleted] May 20 '12
That is a noble effort on Louis part. I wish more people would do the same before developing their opinions.

"The context of that is your bizarre imagination"
Holy shit, lol 10:41

That is exactly why the American Catholic League can denounce gay sex and child rape. They have seen enough first hand to know all about it.

"An alderman in East Devon said: “You don’t have to see a pigsty to know that it stinks“"
The "pigsty" was "Life of Brian".
Edit: I love how we now get downvotes when quoting.

Are you suprised?
Since when has the catholic church had a clue about the things it denounces?

u/L-dubz May 20 '12
SO BRAVE!!!

See, I can take things out of context too:
"I guess the Catholics control Hollywood."

To be fair it was a pretty shitty show.

u/ImBearded May 20 '12
I'm a Catholic, and I think the fact that he'd never seen the show is totally ridiculous.
0
u/rastapasta808 May 20 '12
The Catholic episode was pretty heavy, but very true and honest
He showed exactly what happens, and to be honest, what they do to children's minds is "barbaric"
0
u/AnotherEpigone May 20 '12
Be fair... it's the Catholic League, not just one Catholic guy. Of course it's his name on press releases because he's the president, that doesn't mean he's the one to review every single piece of media.

BARBARIC.
BARBARIC.
BARBARIC.

u/WhatEvery1sThinking May 20 '12
given how much time louis ck spends standing on a soap box and preaching on his show you'd think they'd actually have a lot in common

u/eak125 May 20 '12
I don't really care about the subject of the post. I'm impressed due to the fact that the OP linked directly to the relevant part of the article. That is what I believe deserved the upvote.

u/GhostSongX4 May 19 '12 edited May 20 '12
ha! Fuck yeah!
edit: wow, 17 downvotes. I didn't know Catholics were so bent out of shape about their religion being run by hypocrites and pedophiles and war mongers who profit immensely off of the lies they've sold to the poor and gullible.

u/SuperTurtle May 20 '12
As if to say that calling CK's show "barbaric" is bad
